Default First Mod?

Hi Guys. What would you recommend for your first mod to the car if its bone stock? I think i am looking at some race headers thoughts? I want to put the IPD intake plenum on and a tune as well down the road. But what would be the first performance mod you would make or have made. What would be the best bang for the buck 1st.

100%, headers. They net you power and sound and easily has the best bang for the buck as far as power is concerned. The car sounds amazing stock, but everything is amplified and just turned up several notches meaner with some headers. Like multiple people here, I'm running the Dundon headers and can't sing their praises enough (both about the actual headers and Dundon themselves).

If tracking best bang is probably race brake fluid, rear toe links and front control arms and spacers (for front arms to get camber). Get safer braking, more camber, more even tyre wear and not stupid money.

then agree a set of headers and tune must be next!

various threads here indicate that the IPD alone did not make a lot of difference, need to add Dundon intake runners to it to get the benefit. Alternative is the porsche 718 GT4 clubsport intake (available thru BGB Motorsports budget USD4k plus fitting and tune) but I haven't seen the dyno runs yet to understand the trade offs.

if you live somewhere that does not mind re emissions/mods the race headers would be my choice and they come up for sale from time to time here. Dundon or later Cargraphic (via BGB) with support bracket are excellent (Ive seen both and own the former).

then obv a Deman 4.5 and gearbox!

see the locked thread at the top of 981 GT4 section for lots about track prep from people much more experienced than me that was pulled together by an instructor who sadly is no longer with us.

Good luck with your modding!

I am looking at the Soul performance race headers. Are these the clubsport intake runners your talking about https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Cay...8AAOSwvxBel2VL ? I want to take it to the track few times. I want to add power mods first. I race kart's so that is my fun for racing. Does anyone make a 93 octane tune?

just asking what is wrong with them, Are they just stock ones wrapped with heat resistant material?

Here is a comparison. Possible the Ebay ones are for 981 GT4 clubsport but the above compares standard 981 GT4 and 718 GT4 intake.

First mod: remove the ridiculous neck-level pad in the carbon bucket seats. Looks much better without, and will provide more room for your helmet and HANS device.

To me the 718 looks smaller but that engine makes more power than the 981.

I love my Soul Street/ Softronic setup, installed last July. I wanted to avoid drone at all costs, and not have the catless smell. John at Soul was fantastic to work with, and had some good advice for me. I had my shop order, they were very experienced with Soul and the owner has a GT3 with their headers and Softronic.

A set of mirror wind diffusers is less than a 10 minute mod if you enjoy window down driving at freeway speed.
