What’s the reliability and what are the service intervals like with the new engine? My only concern would be reliability! I know there’s a guy in Cali who turned over 100K on his GT4 with no issues. Could we hope to have the same reliability with this package? I’m on the fence, help!!! 😂
Oil-wise, I'm doing oil changes every 5000 miles, and replacing / checking the filter after track days. Porsche's maintenance schedule has you replace the transmission oil at 120k mi, but I might bump that to 100k or 80k depending on how much it gets tracked in the next year or so. But otherwise, the engine's been solid, and--aside from extra attention pre- and post-track days (e.g. filter check, brake fluid check, etc.), which you should be doing anyway as a matter of course--I'm looking at largely keeping to the stock maintenance schedule (i.e. filters and plugs @ 40k mi, drive belt at 60k mi, etc.).

+1 even with the new 2-5 gearing setup, leaving 6th stock was the jam. Throw it in 6th, close exhaust valve, and just cruise as if its any other car with decent MPG. Throw it down to 3rd mash the gas and then watch the gas gauge physically move

Forrest....its only a matter of time until you do it. Just succumb to it. I'll end the season around 5k miles on it with no issues. To @burnergt4 's point, its awesome that its the same oil/filter setup and maintenance etc

who are you and how do you know my name?! 😂 but yeah. Sort of wish I hadn’t done so many upgrades. Already have headers, exhaust, ipd plenum, GT3 throttle body, filters, Dundon intake runners. To add another 29K on top of all that stuff... whew... still might do it though lmao. I’m going to contact @DeMan Motorsport on Monday to get some more info. @BealeAss @burnergt4 good to hear about the service intervals being pretty much the same. Seems reliable so far! I’m intrigued ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)

I dropped by Deman motorsport on Thursday and met Rick. He showed me around the shop and we took a look at engines, components, dyno's for the 4.5L - all very impressive stuff. He really took the time to take me through all the info and upgrade paths which I really appreciated. Then we went out for a drive in the 4.5L with revised gearing, it was simply astonishing. The power at the top of the rev range was outrageous, I have never felt an atmospheric engine that pulls like that. It dials up the theatre and aggression to 11, proper racecar stuff. With the exhaust valves closed sound was perfectly civilized so you don't lose any of the street flexibility. The gearing I could see being a massive improvement even on a stock 3.8L, and would be a good half way before going full engine build I think. If your thinking about doing it, go by Deman talk to Rick and take a spin in the 4.5L. I am warning you though, it will ruin you for life and you will want one

Very cool guys.
I have never heard of DeMan Motorsport until the other week when I was purusing P-Car Market and saw a 996 GT3 with a 3.8 Conversion done by a shop I had never heard of about 10 minutes from where I grew up. Some quick Google searching and I found out the story. Now they're in Road and Track. Very cool and I wish I had known about it sooner.
Question, which is moot at this point: could all the above be done to a 991.1 Carrera S? Including the gearing? I got rid of mine because the gearing sucked and the low down torque was lacking and made it a pretty tame driver. But that engine is mostly the same as the one in the GT4, correct?
Just food for thought.
Congrats again!

Yes, the GTS and Carrera S up to 2016 are perfect for the 4.5L conversion.
