Default 4 Year Service $2800!!!!!

My car will hit the 4 year mark in July. I have 9k miles on it today, never tracked, always garaged, etc. Brought it in for the annual service at Paul Miller today, and they quoted me $2800 for the "4 year service". I told the guy he was insane but how on earth can they say that with a straight face?? My tires are at 3/32. Should those be changed?

I was quoted ~ $2,200 from my local dealer...wound up paying that, minus cost of air filters/install since I had done them just prior. I believe the larger cost is for labor on plug replacement...upwards of $1,300, even at independent shops.

With 9k miles, non-tracked car, I feel like my plugs can squeak out a little more!

They can but it's still a good idea to pull them out of the head, check for any signs of thread siezing or corrsion and put them back in if they are good or replace them if they show signs of anything that could lead to disaster later.

Wat

I got my entire 30k maintenance done by independent shop with spark plugs, oil change, interior filters, fluid flush, etc and it came out to be $750 total

Plugs are time or mileage, they should be done every 5 to 6 years to prevent seizing as already noted. If you’re already performing the labor to remove them you might as well change them.

Gearbox fluid should also be changed based upon time or mileage.

I wouldn’t skimp on any of the services but I would definitely look for a good Indy that will do the work at a lower labor/overhead rate.

You might as well let the spark plugs seize that way you can convince yourself and most importantly the wife that a 4.5L conversion will fix it

$2800 seems excessive. I just had my 4-year service (oil, all filters, spark plugs, brake fluid) done at the dealer and was quoted 2k prior to applying any discounts. I was able to get out the door under $2k all-in.

Kicking myself for forgetting to use the "Saturday Service Schedule" for %15 off.

I think I have a cheeky view into what the dealer paid for the $4k service on a car they CPO'd at the same time:
$340.53 for parts
$825.50 for labor

I recently had the 4 yr service completed which included the spark plugs, air filters. $2800 AUD which works out to be about $1800 USD.
$2800 USD sounds excessive.

You know that dealers make the majority of their $$ on service, not car sales right?
DIY is your friend if you are so inclined.
