I told the guy he was insane but how on earth can they say that with a straight face?? My tires are at 3/32. Should those be changed?

Thanks for the tip about the four-year service. (And for the great replies from everyone.) I hit the mark next month and also have 9k on my car, so I plan to call Bob at Stable Energies/European Performance in Garfield to inquire about cost of four-year service.

Let others tell you when to change your tires, but if you are in the market for GT4 tires, I happen to have a brand new set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R 245/35R-20, 295/30R20 that still have the OEM stickers and red stripe/tan stripe in full. Today at TireRack the set is $1320 and I would deliver them to you for $1200. (I am in Bergen County, so can't be too far from you if you're going to P.Miller for service.) Let me know if you're interested.

This is my first Porsche.......I took it in for an oil change, nothing more.......$450...........

I'll be looking for a reputable local shop.......I do want to support my local Porsche dealer but it's unreasonable how much they charge.......

Why not bring the dealer assessment to your local mechanic and get it fixed there?

I just asked my dealer about a four-year service and this was the reply: "After 4 years it is due for spark plugs and every 2 years it is due for brake fluid and a cabin filter. For an annual service including these items, it would be roughly $1285+tax and would take around 6 hours. We can have a loaner car for you if needed."

Given what others have written, it doesn't seem outrageous. Any thoughts (for a non-DIYer)?

spark plugs were a pain literally. Lots of sharp surfaces up in there to cut yourself on. Painful to get visibility to line everything up inserting the new plug without dinging the tip. Changing brake fluid takes me a long time. The clutch bleed is such a pain and messy too. If time > money, that’s probably money well spent.

Doesn't seem outrageous IMO if you don't want to tackle it yourself.

Ok, here's a follow-up. I asked the dealer estimates for installing new brake pads (which I supply; I bought them a while ago to put in my track bag and it's time to replace) and mount/balance four tires, also which I'll supply. He said $500 for brake pad install and $342 to mount and balance four tires.

How does it sound? (To me it sounds very high but not sure.) Thanks so much.

I do my own brake pad changes and it takes about 1/2 hr per wheel. My local tire shop charges between $75 and $125 to mount and balance 4 Hoosiers.

Could you post geographic location/metro area? This could be highly variable depending on labor/real estate costs around the nation. It’s more useful to me to compare costs between dealers I can actually drive to.

I am in the same boat - 4 year service due.
I got the car last year, it is CPO, has about 11K miles.
Did only two DE events last year. I am in Northern NJ.

I am wondering if I take my car to an independent Porsche shop and have the work done, would my CPO stand?
I would otherwise take the car to an above mentioned dealer, which frankly I am dreading...
