You can measure g sum and on some stages the g sum is the same as on track - not all, but some. Thats why recce is so important along with quality pace notes. . These combined allow you to push on with confidence and commitment.

This is where the inputs from the co-driver are all important - a good co-driver with good pace notes, who has done lots of recce ultimately governs a drivers overall pace e.g. The difference between crest 100 8r and crest 100 3r is about 100kmh - the former you'll be flat, the latter you'll be set to brake hard - if you didn't have a co-driver all you would see is the approaching crest.

Long story short - a co-driver de-risks an event and gets you 10/10ths.

I think its about 3-4kg per actuator system (ZF AKC) so around 6-8kg low down.

 

I agree with groundhog these rallies are driven close to the cars limit. Usually there is one car totaled each day and people have died. Most teams have a mobile pit crew of mechanics.
I dont do them as they are too dangerous because I know I would only drive at 10/10ths like at the track. After years pushing the car to the absolute max its hard not to continue that...

That car was in Nurburgring official timed lap spec. Cage and racing seat are mandatory for that these days.

I think of it more like a GT4 side intake instead of 981 intake. My opinion is there have been enough mules tested with this feature, that it is intended for the final 718 GT4. i hope it also makes it to the Spyder this time as I love the GT4 side vents and intend to get a Spyder. If it doesn't, I will do what some 981 Spyder owners have done and add them. I think it enhances the distinctive look of the car.

BTW, I know there are some 981 owning 718 haters out there that seem to hate anything about the upcoming car. I think from the photo above, the 718 GT4 is looking damn good! I personally prefer the updates and changes.

 

Given that they're clearly doing official benchmarks on the 'ring with this car, it should be be final spec for anything that could influence performance.

 

Has anyone tested or used the GT4 with the Autoquest multilink suspension? Isn't this one of the holy grails for the car? At 10k plus installed, it certainly is going to be a significant outlay. It may be worth it... at least on the track. For sporty driving on the street?

 

BGB tested it on a customer's car at Road America. It was positive feed back.

 

I drove 5 laps on it around Road America having been in TCS's Clubsport all week. I have to say though that what blew me away were the AP brakes on the car. It had the calipers and rotors from AP but the pads I think were Ferodo. The car had all Stage I power upgrades in the form of headers, IPD, BMC filters and our custom tune.

 

Maybe a GT4 unveil at this event? Probably not, but I am curious now which Pcar it is.
