Default Got crunched in traffic today...

Ironically, coming home from a Porsche Driving thingy at Barber Motorsports Park. My car sat comfortably in the parking lot all day while I drove and rode in PCNA's various offerings. Then on the 3-ish-hour drive back to ATL I got in a line of nearly stopped cars waiting to transition from I-20 to I-285 so I could take my brother home. Guy behind me in a pickup looked over his shoulder to check for clearance so he could change lanes. Crunch!

Waited on side of the busy (5pm Friday!) interstate, State Patrol showed up in about 20 minutes. I asked if he had any duct tape or bungee cord. He gave me a couple of rubber stretch straps. I tied the bumper up to the wing riser. The hitter was a drywall contractor and he gave me some sort of drywall tape product that I used to tie the forward left corner of the cover to something, and away we went.

Drove it home (about 25 miles) on the interstate without mishap. I'll drive to Performance Collision in the morning.

Glad I didn't have to get towed.

Fortunately, it was super low-speed and there looks to be zero damage other than the bumper cover, with the exception of the silver thingie in the center, a new one of which can just be screwed back on, and the right taillight. It's all good in the end.

Well. It's just a car I suppose. Glad everyone is ok. But damn that's hard to look at.

Sorry to hear. Make sure your garage checks the exhaust. Know a 991.1GT3RS driver who had the same typo of accident you experienced, but looked like less damage. Turned out to be in excess of $15,000...

Sorry to hear you got hit. Make sure the body shop checks your rear body sections for collapse. If collapsed the section has to be cut out and replaced. You can't pull aluminum out. Good luck.

Sorry to see. The silver bar is meant to absorb impact so is likely bent. It's not cheap

Just dropped off at the best shop in town -- they'll pull it apart Monday and have an estimate to me on Tuesday.

Enterprise was out of GT4s (dangit!!!) but was able to hook me up with the closest thing they had, a 46,XXX-mile Chrysler 300. Life is good...

I think we're talking about different silver thingies. I meant the stamped aluminum flat 1mm thick piece you can see in the first photo that is mostly cutouts and looks like a license plate holder or something. It looks like just a bracket to attach the rear bumper cover to.

erg...that sucks. Murphy is a bastard.

I parked at the hotel across the street from Motorsports Cresson in a spot I knew I probably should not have parked in (i.e. it was near another car rather than 1 mile away). It wasn't tight, there was plenty of space - but I was next to a Bubba. Sure enough, next day, massive door ding/crease - and bubba must have really tried hard to make his statement because there were TWO dings with his paint on them, in sequence.

That really blows but glad you're ok!
Be sure to file a diminished value claim with the other party's insurance company since this incident will likely show up on a carfax report and be detrimental to your value.
This would be over and above the collision claim that it should pay out. Not sure how the law works where you are but you should hopefully be able to file both.
You'll likely need to do a fair amount of research as to what repaired GT4's are going for in the market but if successful you can get a pretty decent payout. Similar thing happened to my wife's Macan S... hit from behind at a red light. $10K worth of damage and we received a significant amount in addition to cover the loss in value.
Good luck!

Thats why I always ask permission from MSRC to let me park there over night and clear out in the am. Its not too far to walk just across the street.

Sorry to hear that but not surprised.
