What symptoms if any do you get when the pdk needs servicing? I have 7000 miles and the car still feels normal. I get the gear oil and pdk fluid changed pretty regularly. Should one of these services be done preemptively?

Better safe than sorry. A new box is a big number , a service, not so much.

Heat is an issue with these cars and heat accelerates the break down of lubricants .

Yea for sure. I do the pdk service twice a year and gear oil every 5-7 track days. I meant the repair service with ZF. Should that be done preemptively?

I would say yes if there were a US option. There is not at the moment. The 3 k for shipping , plus refresh cost, plus r&r cost , plus down time is probably not worth it unless you have 2 boxes.
