I'm starting this thread about a drive I did last week in my 911. It carries on from an earlier thread in the 911 section and restoration. This will tell the story about the 1800 drive in the car.
This link below will explain in more detail what the Wild Atlantic Way ( WAW ) is. Basically it's a drive that runs along the roads of Ireland's West Coast some 2600 kms / 1800 mls long. The scenery and roads are stunning, it took us eight days and seven overnights. The small we is me and my friend Chris Clark and my recently restored 1972 911 2.4 S and the Big we is the fifty one other members of Porsche Club Ireland. We became the first ever Car Owners Club to drive the complete route, starting at Malin Head County Donegal in the North and finishing at Kinsale, County Cork in the south ( though you can do it in either direction should you wish ! )
Just to add to the above, I was lucky enough to do 4 of the days, albeit I was the only one not in a Porsche. I had to slum it in a BMW M3.
Those days were some of the best days driving I've ever had. Add to that the stunning scenery and great hotels with superb food, it is something I would highly recommend to any petrol head to consider doing in the future.
By the way, I'm John, first time posting, after a long time reading.
