Post What's after the Porsche 999?

Heard that Dr.Porsche started his project numbers at 900 so that clients would think he'd been in business for a while.

This could be bigger than the Y2K calamity.

Way things have been going lately, I don't think this (number) tradition gives any kind of problems to Porsche management.

Like at one point, racing and sportscars were important to Porsche.

Totally agree with both statements.
Today's Porsches ALL have names.... Carrera, Turbo Carrera, maybe a Carrera GT, Boxster, Boxster S, Cayenne.
Wonder what the pickup truck will be called?
Porsche seems quite content to be racing within the marque these days.

They could go back to the 300's (356). Original plan was to only use the 9xx numbers for cars similar to the 911 (was 901). Somehow that plan got left behind and they used up a lot of those numbers on the 924/944/968/914/928 and all of thier other varrients.

Hello

The Porsche Konstruktionen AG startet with #7.

The reason was the main Partner from Porsche back then was jewisch and liked to start with a good number.

The 900 rows startet in the mid 60´s when Porsche anyway was close to 800.

The reason was that the 900 digits where exclusivly used by Porsche in the VW parts & distribution programm.

The first development in that sequence was the 901.

I do not get your point and doubt that I would find it funny even if I did.

It will probably be called Avensis or Celica in honour of the people who showed them how to make real money ... oh I mean .. real sports cars, instead of over engineered pleasure wagens.

Its time to duck now.
