I think the reason is that most of the new porsche owners are stuck up and think they are the geatest thing that ever walked the earth. I tried to acknowledge some 911's in my area. they gave me a look as if I was some bum from harlem. Maybe they didn't even know my car was a porsche. most of the rich guys where I live buy these gt2's and new turbo's because they have the money, not because they love the car. Ignorant idiots. I bought my porsche because I love it to death. I am a car fanatic. And a porsche one at that. I would not trade anything for my 951. I think it has much more potential than any 911 on the road. That's just MO. Later.

Been having good luck lately...
Waved a 996 C4 cab today, got a wave back.

Waved a 993 a week or so ago...got a wave back.

Made me very happy.

Like SonnyV mentioned, the 500E/E500 was a Mercedes/Porsche collaboration. Mercedes supplied the parts and paint job, Porsche designed the suspension, modified the body and engine, built, and tested the car. So it's a half breed of sorts.

My Vauxhall Nova had an ex Porsche engineer work on it at the last service so I guess it's a Porsche as well. If that doesn't do it I will upgrade the wing mirrors to tear drops on my C2 and use the old ones on the Nova - that'll make it a Porsche for sure.....

A 911sc, right next to me - didnt even give me a glance
2 996s next to me on seperate occasions, no interest at all
Flashed at a 996 coming towards me - he got very confused.

Maybe its the 993 at the bottom of the list.

Or should I try a blond wig...

Yeah, that's EXACTLY the same as a car handbuilt in a Porsche factory.

Well, i for one, dont really care if they wave back. But i will always raise my hand or flash my lights regardless if i dont get a response. I always eye-ball any porsche and talk to the owners. But in socal, where u see a porsche every 3 minutes, it gets me real busy sometimes. Of course, my car is so loud its crude and violent, its hard for people not to notice me.

I always (almost always) flash my brights (for any porsche, regardless of model or year) and usually get a flash or wave back. I always reciprocate if I get an acknowledgement from another Pcar. Love my car and think the acknowledgements are great way of sharing enthusiasm for these great cars with others who have chosen to drive them. I am disappointed on when I don't get an acknowledgement from another -their loss for choosing not to be part of the "community."

Iused to wave/flash to them all. I've noticed that I fail to get any response from the H2O cooled owners. What gives? The camraderie is on of the things I like most about owning a P-Car.

I get just the opposite happening when I drive my 928 around here. I get responses from all sorts of 924/944 derivatives, but very few from anyone driving a 911 variant. Probably 1 out of every 10 drivers responds. Oddly enough, I get a great deal of waving from owners of ZX's, Vettes and Supras. I figure the other Porsche owners that don't respond are really missing something and that's a shame...

just got one this morning and it turned out to be a friend (he also has a Club Sport), BUT I was driving my C4S (which he has never seen)

I called him to tell him it was me and it brought up this topic. What is funny is that he ususally doesn't flash or wave, but he said he saw me coming for a while and that something just possessed him. I tried a little acknowledgement yesterday and it was useless....too many P-cars in So Cal. A couple people did respond though.

In NY the urban legend is that if you don't flash back another Porsche, the Porsche driver will follow you and kill you. Its a new PCA initiation.
