Sell my beautiful 944 and pay rent or be homless for two weeks
So here is our delima.
In two weeks we will receive close to a 7 digit payment for a company we just sold. But we havent had a pay check in almost two years. The sale of the company took alot longer then planned and we haven't paid rent almost 5 months. Our landlord is needless to say fed up and he has been in a legal position to lock us out for about 40 days. He told us we have to pay something by end of day Thursday (thats tomorow) or else the sherif will lock us out!!!!
We just got a firm offer for the car and are on way in a few hours to pick up the check.
So back to the question.
Would you be homeless for a couple of weeks knowing you have a good chunk of change coming just to keep your car.
Here is some other info
Friends are feeding us right now we have no money. lol
we have a cat and a dog that could not sleep in the car with us.
It's our first porsche and we love it...lol...
What would you do...

with all due respect to your lovely 944, i would sell it.
with the incoming 7 digit chk, you can buy a CGT. i would think that's a slight upgrade from 944. and even if the 944 has special meaning to you, you can but a chk to the buyer for 3x the sales price and get it back.

Can you replace the 944 in a few weeks?
I couldn't sell my 356 for any amount of money -even millions. Too much sentimental value in *my* 356... are you that way about the 944? Or could you be happy with shopping for a "better" one in a few weeks?

Yes. And I have a ton of blood sweat and tears, as well as smiles, in my 44s. I would sell it in a heartbeat and just buy a nice 911 or 4 (and probably a 951) when I got the check.
a 356 now.... don't know on that one.

schwank - my attachments to my 356 are pure sentimental. Its the car I came home from the hospital in when I was born, the car we took family vacations in, the car I learned to drive in, etc. Dad bought it new in July '65 to replace a '63 S90 coupe that was trashed in an accident.

Take out a loan backed by the car. Do a little research. If you have funds coming in then it will be no prob. Worse case scenario the big check never comes and you lose the car and end up homeless eventually anyhow.

Yeah, I am looking for loan right now..It takes time since and I am self employed not a bankers dream..Broke and with no verifable current income lol
But its Friday 714 pm and no sign of the landlord so it looks like I have at least three more days which gets us close to the pay day.
I feel like a twelve year old counting sleeps till Christmas.
Its such a strange feeling Im eating hot dogs for dinner but I just left the benz dealer looking for g500 lol
Man I will be glad when this is all over.

Crazy situation to be in. Surely someone can lend you enough to tide you over? Car as collateral maybe?
I had a friend ring me years ago. His wife had left him and cleaned out the bank account. He needed money to make the payroll. Gave me a vintage race car as collateral. Then he brokered a deal on the car for me and I got a fair profit. Think outside the box, you surely must have to put together the company you are selling.

I was trying to stay out of my cirlce since I am working on other projects and most my friends now are related in one way shape or form to one of the projects I am working on. These guys are all sharks I cant let them smell blood.
Friends from school are all close with my family and I dont want them to worry.
Good news is the money is the bank waiting to clear. I have somebody who is intersted in doing eactly what you said and friend is showing up from cali with two more 944s for us.
The landlord gave us till the end of the month so we are cutting it close but it looks like its all working out.
I feel great though. No booze, caffeen, junk foor or fast food for almost three months now....lol I guess there is a silver lining in all this
