Default Porsche pronunciation?

I'm a new Porsche owner (1990 944 S2) and new to rennlist. Perhaps some of you can help or maybe I'm opening up a big can of worms! I'm trying to solve a disagreement- do you pronounce Porsche as "Porsh" or "Porsh-a". Thanks for your opiniions and you two with the 928's- no fighting and go to your rooms!

No opinions necessary. It's a two syllable word. Listen to the way the Porsche family pronounces it.

You set'em straight, Aubrey.

If you are using the German pronunciation, it is a two syllable word. The "e" is always pronouned in German. So, Porsch-uh.

I am always right in my own mind. Problem is that sometimes I am out.

It's "Porsh-uh" if you own one, "Porsh" if you don't.

Thanks for all the advice- especially the t-shirt. For finallity, I always pronounced it s a 2 syllable word- even before I owned one! I now "own" all those around me (no Porsche's among them) who had it one syllable!

Its not a Porche that you sit your chair on and add a "UH" on the end of Porsche and you will be a proper Porsche owner.

When ever I politely correct someone, I always tell them that it is a family name, and how would they feel if everyone mispronounced their family name... So your name is Johnson, ho would you like it if I called you Mr.. Johns?

They usually get the point.

I have come to accept that having my family name mis-pronounced is an immutable fact of life.

Fortunately, it has never stopped interesting and attractive people from wanting to share it with me.

I think you will find members of the Porsche and Piëch families feel the same way.

My classic encounter was at a movie party (what else?) in Malibu, when a bright young thing batted her eyelash shrouded baby blues at me and breathily aspirated 'Aw gee, I've never met a real live Saint before!'. I ask you, 'what can a poor man do?'

I've noticed that to be quite true...

My pronunciation kind of sounds like "porsh-eh". Maybe my accent is nutty.
