BMW M Coupe
I was out getting some lunch today and I was behind one of these. I always though they were really ugly from pictures but it actualy really impresses me when I saw it. It has sort of a fat back end like a 911 wide body and it had dual exhaust each with 2 sets of end pipes. With some wide tires it looked very agresive (from the back anyway). I wonder if they will make an Z4 base coupe.

Drive one. They are awesome!
There will be no Z4 coupe, and officially there are no plans for an M version of the Z4 either. Of course, the latter could easily change to encourage sluggish sales.

If I wasn't already knee deep into both of my Porsche's for at least a couple more years, I would have picked one up by now. The M-Coupe has to be one of the most unique cars from the past decade.

Guy's,
I made the mistake of buying one of these coming from an '87 3.2. I (still) have an '01 Coupe with the 3.0 engine. No matter how many shocks, struts, springs, sways, tires you throw at these cars they will never satisfy you unless you like tons of understeer. Our 3.0 has better balance than the M and I still cringe at the thought of tossing the car around. Fortunately I came to my senses and a 996 40th is on the water. Too much engine for the chassis or too little chassis for the engine. A shame as the car appeared to be a great solution for our criteria.

I love them in the M version and would not touch a 3.0. Great little cars, like Miata with *****. If my wife had not threatened divorce if I bought one I would have one too.

Correct. The last version of the M Coupe had the S54 engine that is also used in the e46 M3. The M Coupe has very tricky handling near its limits due to its short wheel base and rear suspension design. It's otherwise a fun car and nothing looks like it.

Yeah, I picked up a 2000 M Coupe just about a year ago. It's hands down the 'funnest' car I have ever driven and I absolutely love the little thing. Plus now you can pick up a used certified pre-owned (CPO) one for the mid-twenties that come with a 6 year/100K mile warranty. It really is a love it or hate it car but I love it b/c it different. You don't exactly see one everyday.
I haven't driven a regular Z3 Coupe so I can't really compare to what threeOh is saying, but I don't have the understeer problem he seems to be having. They are slow-in/fast-out cars and oversteer can be enduced at the flick of the throttle. (At least in the Ms.) Especially with the undersized stock tires, the rears will light-up without much effort.

I have a '01 M Coupe with the S54 315hp engine. It is a great little car that has much sharper response than the Porsches I have owned. It is also quite fast witha very usable torque band that extends to upper 7's (redline at about 8K).
I does understeer a bit, but that can be managed and when it is, they can achieve FTD at AutoXs. There are alot of things that one can do to upgrade the suspension, but not much with the engine.
Here is mine with 285/30/18s on the rear. It's for sale so I can fund my 964 Turbo project.
