It seems like getting the new Nvidia cards is going to be a bit like buying Heusinkveld pedals, at least for a while.
Our 2080 seems to be handling the iRacing graphics load just fine, but the red "rendering" bar on top often indicates that the CPU (i7 with 32GB memory) is overloaded. That seems to be the performance bottleneck more than the graphics card.

I thought I would revive this thread with a Iracing question.
I am a weekend racer / DE champ
I mostly use Iracing to learn tracks I am less familiar with.
I will be attending a control driver class in January and looked around Iracing and found the Centripetal Ciruit.(Dry skid pad).
I can't seem to start and hold any drift/slip. It either PUSHES or comes around/spins.
What am I doing wrong.... wrong car/setup, more practice, or in dream land.
Thanks for any help

@GT3_Driver I have a similar use case as you for my sim. I never tried the Centripetal Circuit, just because I never thought of it, but it seems like a good idea. I agree MX5 might be an option to try. Another thing to consider is using different software for this exercise. I am by no means an expert on the subject but learned from watching some videos that iRacing is know to be very challenging to hold a drift. Many argue that it is much harder than real life and that it is due to the tire model. I have heard that Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2 have much better and realistic tire models relative to controlling a drift. Just a suggestion...

Good suggestions.
I was hoping to making it rain but only get fog.
I also though higher horsepower would help.
Also tried adding air to the back tires....but causes the setup to fail.
I'll keep playing with it.

Greetings all,
I joined Iracing in July and have been going nuts racing and building my rig ever since. I love it. My girlfriend isn't as enthusiastic. lol.
I've been racing mostly Skippy but might make a change to racing Pcars soon.
I'm waiting on my HP Reverb G2 but was racing on an Oculus Rift CV1.
Current rig:
Rseat N1
Fanatec DD1 / 911 GT3R and Formula V2
Fanatec V3 pedals/shifter/brakelever
Samsung 49" ultrawide
Buttkicker Gamer2
Computer is a recent build i9 - 10850k with a RTX 3080

I haven't tried the Skippy yet, mostly been racing the Spec Racer Ford - great momentum car. The new Dallara looks interesting too.
Right now I'm using triples but they aren't very good monitors. Might have to try the G2.

Data display recommendations
Just finished building my rig. have a few days on it and still working on dialing it in. unfortunately just headed out on the road for the next 3 weeks. one thing i think i am going to be interested in is a "data logger" screen. similar to the motec in my real car. many cars have a decent enough display for shift lights or gear position or laptime, many do not. i'm interested in consistency. what kind of recommendations are out there? there are some dedicated models, and i think some use iPads, etc..... edumacate me

Guys looking for some help, I sent my application in to join PCA Iracing, did not see anything for 2 weeks so I sent an e-mail. I got a reply that I was good to go, kept waiting but no invite, yesterday I did get a e-mail saying that they were waiting for me to except but nothing has come through. I did try on the new UI as well. Any help would be appreciated.
Thx
