Rennlist iRacing thread

Hey - I just started Iracing, and am looking to join the Wed night practices. I have the cup car - should be fun.
How do you guys chip in for the server time - I don't want to be a freeloader.

Has anyone tried the RSR yet? I'm finding it really nice to drive. I wish I was faster with it, and more consistent, but I really haven't been practicing very much. Maybe if we start up again in the fall, we can run this car instead of the cup. The car looks great too!

I did about 10 laps last night at Detroit with it to try it out, and spent ~30 minutes in the GTE practice at Monza. Pretty cool car, and I like Detroit tho it's TIGHT. Car seems relatively easy to drive - tho I wonder if the challenge comes from extracting the last 1/10th.

I love driving the RSR! Too bad i'm relatively slow in it but its still very fun to drive. I'd definitely be interested in racing it with you guys.

Interested in opinions here.
Im looking for the closest sim car to the 997 GT3 on any sim platform.
The best I have found to date is iRacing’s Ruf Track car. (iRacings 991 GT3 feels nothing like the 997 GT3 IMO)
Has as anyone found something more similar in feel on any of the sim platforms? I also posted in the 997 GT3 forum and will report back here if I find anything.
Thanks
Matty

997 GT3 *street* car, I take it? My guess is the Ruf Track is probably gonna be the closest.
Most other sims out there with street cars in them are very "video game" vs "simulator." Assetto Corsa has a few Porsche street cars in it - tho it's all newer stuff (991 GT3RS, etc.) and while AC feels pretty good, it's not iRacing.
The 991 GT3 in iRacing is the Cup - which, yes, will be very different from the street car. Several folks with 997 Cups have commented that the 991 Cup in iRacing is still pretty damned close.

Are there any plans to get the Rennlist group back up and running anytime soon. I realize participation was low last time round but it was still a blast. I sucked but still came in 2nd b/c I participated in each race (missed 1st by one point actually!). The RSR will make it that much more enjoyable.

Correct - looking for something similar to street 997 GT3. I do think the Ruf track is pretty good.. the feel and feedback is definitely close, however it is lighter and faster which distorts the feel vs the actual car somewhat.
In the GT3 forum someone posted a link to a guy who has created a mod/car based on the 997 4.0 for Assetto Corsa which is meant to be very good. As much as I like the AC graphics, I don’t particularly like the physics.
I might give give it a try.. though switching to AC does mess up my wheel setup/etc and can be a pita.
