Default AIM MXL2 unable to connect to device

New problem. Now that I solved the Racestudio3 issue, the wifi will not connect any more. I updated to Racestudio3 and 1.18.21 on the MXL2. I tried it with a blank password as well, still no joy. Also tried both ON and AUTO settings.

Any one heard of a new wifi glitch recently?

Thanks in advance for any help

Jeff

When you make a change to the Wifi status to the USB connected dash in RS3, you must transmit that change (and I recommend verifying settings in the dash menu itself after) to the dash. Too often, I make a change to the Wifi status and then forget to transmit it to the dash. Sometimes, if I am sure the latest firmware is on the dash, I will try to turn it on through the dash menu, then connect to the dash as an AP.

Haven't heard of anything. I used it all weekend and this afternoon without trouble.

Well, I'm here at the trailer and nothing I do helps. Multiple transmits, change the name, change to existing network, reset wifi on the device. Always unable to connect. I even tried downgrading the firmware to the previous version still no joy. Also reboot didn't help. I'm unable to connect from the OS level also (bypassing the app since I thought maybe 3.10 had an issue). My next test will be to try a different laptop, although I also couldn't connect from my phone so I'm not sure the different laptop will help either.

This was working fine at Lime Rock back in late April with the same laptop but v 3.09 RaceStudio

Stay tuned.

Again, you may need to contact Robbie at Aim sports and do a remote support session with your car there. One of the good things about Matt, Jerry and I working with this stuff every day is that when we see a problem crop up with any sort of frequency, we communicate among each other and with an AiM mailing list. Unfortunately, while the antivirus induced crash is a good example of something that was resolved successfully, I haven't heard of any chronic WiFi issues since February of this year and the latest firmware .21 had made WiFi transfer and connections MUCH better and quicker, in my experience. Wish I had an answer but support options do exist.

Have you reviewed everything in http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...0_upgrades.pdf to make sure the type of connection hasn't changed? If nothing there helps, then calling in is your best bet.

Looking through there, I see I've addressed everything except this:

"After having set all the parameters, click the Transmit and Restart button. Your AiM device will restart and be configured with the new parameters. "

I don't see a restart button in RaceStudio3.

There is no restart button. I think that's a translation error where they mean that the transmit button will transmit the changes and then restart the dash.

Sounds like you need to call in and see if something else deeper has created a problem.

Went back and forth with Robbie, tried a bunch of stuff. Still no joy. Have to send it in. It'll have to wait until after I go to WGI next week. USB till then.

I see there is a 3.10.10 version of RS3 just released which includes this:

WiFi communication fixes on both native Windows and virtualized Windows.

I am going to try this before sending the MXL2 to California. The cars is currently in the body shop but as soon as it arrives back I will give it a go and report back here.

Just to follow up on this, one of the recent firmware updates probably July 25 solved this problem

Yes, it did. For those that had a problem. Glad to hear it!
