Ioport makes a radio to video interface. TVC15 I think it's called. Not sure if it could hook into a smartycam, but probably if you hook it into external Mike port.

You need the I/O port device. There are threads in the racing forum on it.

Indeed there are, and I am part of them.
I have the I/O Port device which lets me record driver/passenger dialogue on my SmartyCam. Works great.
I think I/O has a sample on their website.

Matt

Is there a plug and play kit you have that would allow the car radio, Motorola pm 400 to plug into the newer smarty cam. That would be great to record audio.

I don't sell the I/O Port stuff, but I could help you with the Smartycam Cable. You just have to make sure you don't have the first gen SCHD. If you have Rev2, then you just need to get the mic cable and the I/O Port device. If you have a first gen SCHD, I'll work with you on a new camera too.

Hmm how do we tell if Rev 2?

Is the mic cable a Aim part?

The Rev 2 camera has the big lens like on these pages http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/pro...v2.1/index.htm The Rev 1 camera looks like these http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...m_smartyhd.pdf

The Mic cable is an AiM part. It's this cable V02566300, the very bottom of this page http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/pro...microphone.htm

Rick, Did you have to add any capacitors to the alternator to eliminate any noise?

Matt, are there any compatibility issues with the io part and the bullet cam versions of the SC? if so, how do I tell what version of the SCHDGP I have?
Thanks
Pat

I'm not Matt, but all versions of the SC GP, including the HD version, have seven pin Ext ports, which allow use of the I/O Port device.

Yup, all the Smartycam GP, whether HD or regular def, will take an external mic. They use the same cable to integrate the mic. Let me know if you need the cable or I can help with anything else.
