SmartyCam HD corrupt video files
We've been running our car for the first time yesterday, and after 1 year of problem-free use I encountered some weird things with our SmartyCam HD.
What basically happens is that the camera writes 2 videofiles in succession (both approx. 1GB in size). The first one I can open with VLC player without issues, the second one refuses to open. Tested with a different SD card, same story. Tested in several runs, same story. First file ok, second broken, third ok, fourth broken etc.
What could this be?

I know you tried another SD card, but every time I've had issues (particularly corruption that also generates an .FOF file) it's either low battery or bad cards. Reformat, fully charge and try again.

someone brought up this issue (I think) in the seminar we attended in January that Roger put on. I seem to recall he had a fix and it might have been as simple as updating the firmware, but I can't remember.

Call AIM. I have dealt with them on a few issues and they are VERY nice and VERY easy to work with. I even posted a thread on how wonderful and customer service focused they are. Now...that was AIM in Roanoke, VA, I don't know how AIM in Europe is...

I already did.
They have very good customer support, even when it comes to replacing units that clearly have suffered during competition / track day use.

Ir_fuel, IIRC you got your equipment from your native country's distributor, who's a friend of yours?
That's who you need to go to first.
I had a SC HD GP customer of mine tell me his camera started screwing up ans generating .FOF files.
He changed cards, it didn't change. He formatted a third, new card and it worked through the weekend like a charm.

When I began selling Rev1 SC HD's, I bought a bunch of Patriot class 10 cards to include free of charge with new camera sales. Little did I know how much trouble that would cause! Nearly every one generated intermittent .FOF files and corrupted video! Brand new cards, best speed and class, did I say brand NEW?
I realized after having all of the users substitute the crummy little 4 GB Transcend card that came with them and having the problem be rectified in EVERY case, that it was the cards.
Now, I use only 45 Mbps or 90 Mbps Transcend Class 10 UHS-1 cards, in retail packaging. No more trouble...

Seems to me that some hardware is more sensible to this than other. Never had any issues in my GoPro(s) I use.
Anyway, I'll let you know what AiM tells me.
