AIM Solo DL Brake pressure 981

AIM Solo DL Brake pressure 981
So I've been tracking my 2015 Cayman GTS for a few months now. I connect AIM Solo DL via OBD2 connector.
I cannot seem to record any Brake pressure data even though the channel is available. Any help with that.
Firm ware V 46.03.18
This is a list of available ECU channels per system manager
1. RPM
2. WHEEL_SP_FL, FR, RL, RR
3. THROTTLE_POS
4. ACCEL_POS
5. COOLANT TEMP
6. AIR INTAKE TEMP
7. MANIFOLD_PRESS
8. FUEL LEVEL
9. STEER_ANGLE
10. BRAKE_PRESS
Of the available channels
I do not get data for
1. Wheel_SP_FL, FR, RL, RR
2. Fuel Level
3. Brake Pressure
Is that normal?
Thanks for your help!!!

I have only seen that on direct wire CAN.
AiM is pretty clear that while channels listed are in the protocol, some may not be delivered. This is particularly true on OBD-II protocols.
Take a look at the bottom of page 7 in red: http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...11_102_eng.pdf

The OBD-II is plug and play, just doesn't give everything you want. You will need a different cable, but I don't think it's very difficult at all. Takes about an hour and it's very straightforward.
Greenfrog posted a nice picture guide on the installation. I made up a PDF using his pictures of my installation in his 987.2 Let me see if I can find it and post it.

The 991/981 OBD-II protocol (originally written for the 991, 981 was tacked on) DOES support brake pressure through the OBD-II connection. I have data for that.
I've sold a dozen Solo DL/SCHD OBD-II combinations THIS year for 991 and 991 GT3 owners, and sent one this past week to someone who tested it in his 2012 Cayenne Turbo to learn about it (in the snow!?!), he did say everything worked (on the video background) except brake pressure, so this is a known issue with the 991/981 OBD-II protocol.
To work with the additional channels present in the CAN stream of a 981, you would have to a) connect to the twisted pair directly (easy enough to do and with no risk, if the directions are followed carefully) and b) the 991/981 CAN protocol (a different set of instructions coming from the car looked for) would have to be loaded on to the Solo DL. Not complicated or time consuming, but necessary for full funtionality.
So, with a 991, you're good to go!

Peter and doborder:
The Cayman R (mine and Randal's) on which the SoloDL is connected to CAN is 987.2. 981 (MY 2014, on sale since 2013) might be different.
Here is a PDF of available channels on different Cayman/Boxster models. Not sure how accurate it is, though. The list of available channels on 987.2 through CAN matches what I see. However, it also listed brake pressure being available through OBD II on 987.2 which is not what Peter sees. On 981, it listed brake pressure available only through OBD II but not through CAN. I don't know how much to trust it. Further investigation is warranted.

As for installation, make sure you get the correct color for CAN bus wire for 981 (not sure if it is the same or different from 987.2), and triple check before soldering.

Fixed my posts and could not see that link on my phone.
The ONLY information I would trust for color codes and connection location on the new 981 cars is here: http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...11_102_eng.pdf
My experience is that you not only get more channels but a quicker refresh rate on CAN, as opposed to OBD-II connections.
The color codes for the new cars 981/991 CAN are orange/red (CAN+) and orange/brown (CAN-).
Color codes for the older (987.2/997.2) cars are yellow/red (CAN+) and yellow/brown (CAN-).

I just fixed the link to the PDF in post #9. It is saying for 981 a single brake pressure reading is available only through OBD II, whereas 4 individual brake pressures channels (one per caliper) is available through CAN.

That's a good chart, but misleading to the 997.2 GT3 owners, for their protocol is more limited than the standard 997.2 variants. The 997.2 GT3 cars won't get those channels...

nevermind.. I just looked at http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...11_102_eng.pdf
I figured out that the 991_911 is the CAN file...
Thanks for your input
Anyone know if there is a plug and play for the CAN line? I was told that there is a plug you can get so you don't have to splice into the harness. Any truth to that?
