just a heads up. i loaded the beta on my Dell 7470, Win10 Pro, i thinkits like 32 or 64gb ddr4 ram, and a 1tb ssd drive.
thing crashed my machine several times. blue screen of death crash "Oops. Something happened. Please wait while we send windows some info". and then id reboot. worked fine in all other apps and the other RS2, but if loading RS3, somewhere in there after id load a session to analyze....crash.
no biggie, i just uninstalled. so hard to figure that stuff out and it for sure happens in beta versions.
and it could be something super unique and specific only to my machine, my combo of hardware, or incompatible video file from the SC GP.
who knows. i just uninstalled.
just mentioning it incase others run into same. no idea why reallly and ididnt have too much time to figure it out after it crashed a few times.

It requires 64 bit Windows.

its win10 64 bit, pro, not sure if the pro is an issue though doubt ful.
anyway, just wanted to let you know since like others, those laptops have valuable stuff, and a hard blue screen crash isnt great for hard drives and leads to coruption.

let me clarify/correct. it wasnt race studio 3, the config or tracks the main interface, but the Analysis. when the video starts to load, etc. sorry, i find the naming a tad confusing. RS3 has continued to be the same i guess, its just the analysis component which has been updated.

Software can be confusing now. RS3 for configuring things, RS2 for analysis, and there is not RS3 Beta that has all the regular RS3 stuff AND RS3 Analysis. RS3 Analysis is what's really beta.

As more capability and reliability is ported over the RS3A from RSA (Race Studio Analysis, what's been present for a long time and is fully functional in RS3 when people download and open their files, no video), it'll be more clear.
Hopefully, we can get there sooner rather than later.
I am having crashes on the dev copy on more than one of my computers. Have sent it all in. I do understand that 3.50 beta is better. Will load that, too.

Tomorrow will be great as I show my workflow and how people can use RS3 beta to improve their performance.

I was wondering how you were going to do a "deep analysis in twenty minutes."
Now, you're going to add using beta software with no maths and no sector reports on top of that?
Definitely tuning in for that one.

This may have been covered already, but I stumbled onto it by accident and think it’s pretty cool. When you import/download your data files first, then plug in a SmartyCam data card and “import” the video files:
- it does the magic to link the Video files to the corresponding data sessions
- It DOES NOT Copy the big video files to your laptop
if you unplug the SD card, the vid window will just come up blank, but if you plug it back in then the video is there. That’s pretty handy if you don’t want to have to copy many GB of video onto your laptop’s SSD. You can still open up the data anytime to look at something, and then move your SD card or plug in your video archive drive for the full effect.
cheers

But great point and post. I have emailed with Italy a lot over this. They way they do it is exactly for the reason you pointed out. You can like your video and keep it too, but don't have to clog your computer with old videos. The software links the video location and magic ensues. If the video was permanently moved, you can delete the old link and just re-import it. It's a great way to do things IMHO.

A few small USB hard drives labeled by track , year, client whatever seems to make sense given the way the new program works. Plug it in, hit import files. Disconnect, no memory issue.
Keep where you store you loggers and cameras.
Cheers

I believe 64 gig is official, but I've heard 128 works. We run 32 and just have a bunch.
I think file management will best be done by having a dedicated HD or NAS that you can always access with the videos. As long as the location doesn't change, the linking works.

Official maximum size on AIM SmartyCam HD is 128 GB. I have heard people use more, but the camera takes a lot of time to format the card. I recommend 32 GB, about eight hours at the highest setting.
Frank, I’ll do that AFTER the beta matures. Like everything in AIM, there are multiple ways to do the SAME thing.
Every time I post my preferred way or even a suggestion, one person gets on my case here, and I don’t have time for that.
So, I’ll send you something.
