Of COURSE you can specify different source file locations. D'oh!

.
Alternative truths?

You continued to tell people they had to copy everything to one folder to import it. That is not correct.

Guys

You are both an invaluable resource to our group.

AIM needs to fix this , or educate us all , ASAP.

Their shortcoming not yours or ours. Dont make me send you to the principals office ... Although I hear she is pretty cute...

They are a great company and I am sure they will address this ASAP.

I said to start out, learn the process and to test it, that was ONE simple way to do it.

It was also a way to do it demonstrated in the webinar.

It works.

What is the matter with you?

They will. There’s several different ways to do it, which is why there is not a clear path. It’s not particularly intuitive, even for regular users.

The recent webinar series and the expanded documentation over the last few years is huge. They’ve made a huge commitment to improve user support, not just hardware support.

Roger and both offices in North America have great techs available on the phone and via email, too.

Thanks.

Gotta get back to the SRO races here at VIR. GO, Porsche GT2 RS CS! Go, 718 GT4 CS!

So here is where I went South , unknowingly.

Open Beta and had already imported my data from non Beta RS3. What to do with mov files ?

I view video on a different computer, a Mac and thus just transferred mov file into Mac hard drive in the good old days.

New Beta, what to do ?

Look at various tabs etc, ---oh there is a video tab that lets you download. Download mov files there expecting auto sync as advertised ---no joy.

Along comes Yoda, ( Roger C.) and says oh no young Jedi( not so young ) you must import to Race Studio 3 ANALYSIS , not Race Studio 3...

Hmm

Open Beta go to the big 3 ( RS3A) top left , hit enter, find the cogged wheel on the left of the 3 columns on opening screen , click and chose load files, find desired mov files on SD card in the SD slot and push button and voila ,

Old dinosaur in business.

Cheers

Something I have not tested yet, but I expect if you remove the SD card from the reader, you lose video. I do not believe RS3A is moving the files, it is just logging where they are located to go back to. This is the file management part people will have to manage, but not really any different than they had to.manage videos before.

Matt’s on the money here. Often, I’ll put files from drivers in separate folders on the desktop for the weekend, opening from there for analysis. Then, I’ll drag them or move them to the Data folder in my AIM app after. Next time I open them from the test database, it tells me they’re not there because they aren’t, they’re now in the app folder. So I need to import them again from the folder in order to access them.

Your app reading from the no-longer-present card is the same thing. THIS is why I suggested a local folder where you put both in to continue to be able to open the pair in RS3A beta. Matt, I think, is just saying put it in the system (app) folder or specify the file path after you save them to a folder that has local access. That’s why I selective sync the relevant Dropbox folders to my computer to MAKE sure I have the data and video available locally.

On every other system, to access video and data files, you need to copy/transfer/paste/import them to a place that app knows where to look and that they’re there.

It is a little clunky, but it does work.

I have had several chats with the " Big Guy" at AIM and an hour of shared computer time with a primary developer in Italy.

They understand the mov file issue and are working on it. As far as the syncing issue I sent them files and they are looking into it.

I had heard Enrico, Emiliano, Filiipo, and the crew are great folks and very passionate. We had a discussion on file handling as well. They really appreciate everyone's feedback and are taking it all in to make the software better. It's really cool to see!

I have shared TONS of data with Italy and caused lots of sync, import, and other issues. They are working very hard to make sure RS3A gets everything correct. As I have heard (but not checked), there were some earlier FW versions that caused sync issues. They have some of my data from last year and a few weeks ago with some sync issues that they are working with. What we get out of all this beta testing is going to be really awesome.

I've had some SCHD video several years old work fine, some much more recent, not so much. Not sure it's been identified as a specific fw that is the issue (although one has been circulated), but it's moving forward!

It's a great feature and truly the way forward. I thank Emiliano, Roger, Mike and Mike, along with all the AiM Sportline and AiM Sports crew in putting it out.

There are most certainly versions of FW that are causing problems. Part of this beta is to get a large number of people importing data to find problems and be able to correct them. As normal with AiM, they want full backwards compatibility and are working hard to keep that.

For folks working with the beta, it will be important and easier for them to make sure they have up to date FW on their cameras, dashes, GPS units (automatically done through the attached device), and their software up to date.

just a heads up. i loaded the beta on my Dell 7470, Win10 Pro, i thinkits like 32 or 64gb ddr4 ram, and a 1tb ssd drive.
thing crashed my machine several times. blue screen of death crash "Oops. Something happened. Please wait while we send windows some info". and then id reboot. worked fine in all other apps and the other RS2, but if loading RS3, somewhere in there after id load a session to analyze....crash.
no biggie, i just uninstalled. so hard to figure that stuff out and it for sure happens in beta versions.
and it could be something super unique and specific only to my machine, my combo of hardware, or incompatible video file from the SC GP.
who knows. i just uninstalled.
just mentioning it incase others run into same. no idea why reallly and ididnt have too much time to figure it out after it crashed a few times.
