Default Meguiar's Mirror Bright Winter Car Care Contest

Winter Car Care Tip

Regular washings might seem like a waste of time in winter, but keeping a car’s surface and undercarriage clean is vital for long term body care. Motorists should wash their vehicles consistently to remove all snow, sleet and salt. Meguiar’s experts also suggest using high pressure rinsing and to paying special attention to removing elements that may collect in the undercarriage and wheel wells.

To get started combating the winter months, check out the new line, Mirror Bright™ by Meguiar’s®. A new line of automobile appearance care goods developed in the Meguiar’s California-based laboratory, offering simple, yet effective solutions for enthusiasts who want to quickly detail and maintain their automobiles with their own two hands.

Use RO water bought by the gallon at the grocery store. Its cheap and no spotting after a wash. I use a spray bottle and wet my car by the section. Wipe it off with a wet clean microfiber towel. Ill use about a half dozen cleaning my car. Afterwards another wipe off all the while using fresh clean microfiber towels.

No hose,no dryer,no spots. Ready for wax.

If you won't be able to keep your car in the garage after a wash avoid washing your car when temperatures are below 20 Fahrenheit as it could result in frozen locks and ice build up in door jambs/seals.

planning to take your garage queen out this winter on a nice sunny day for a "spirited" drive?

don't risk losses in traction or handling! remember to pay attention to tire pressure in the colder months of the year. expect about a 1 psi drop (~2% to be more precise) in pressure for every 10 degrees F drop in temperature.

+1 Winter driving is for gran turismo cruising the back roads of North Texas. I gave the spirited drives for warmer months when the summer tires have more grip...T

Clean bird droppings off your paint ASAP. Keep a bottle of instant detailer and a microfiber towel in the car to help get the droppings off even if you are not home.

Crap - I live in Hawaii so winter is not as severe. So my tip is wash weekly to avoid water spots on your paint that might get baked in by the sun.

Make sure you dry out your door jambs etc...doors and trunk can get frozen shut and you can tear the rubber seals if not careful. Best to wash and then pull indoors to finish the drying.

You shall wax your car before the winter season and use the rainX program at your car wash.

I use nitrile gloves when applying tire dressing to keep the slime off hands.

If you're worried about your wheel cleaner being too strong for your wheels finish, spray some water on the wheels first and then apply the cleaner. The water will dilute the cleaner a bit and give you a little peace of mind. You can also just use soapy water to clean them if you're really concerned

Use Rainx on the exterior of all the glass. Ice and snow will scrape off easier.

While drying your car after a wash, spray a product like Meguiar's M135 or D155 on the surface while the car is still wet. The car will be less likely to scratch as you wipe up water spots and you'll lay down a nice coat of protection/gloss at the same time. If you can't wash outside during the winter, try D114 or D115 as a rinseless wash.

I little tire dressing on your windshield wiper arms, minimizes ice build up and eases clean up of a buried car. Silly remote gas cap freezes too on the winter Boxer. A little dab of dressing there keep ice build up at bay.
