Default Product to use on black plastic bits?

On the new 911, I'm specifically talking about the undersides of the side mirrors, the front vent bits under the lights, and the rear valance around the exhaust. For those black plastic pieces, what products are you all using to keep them protected and looking new?

Aerospace 303.

I bet you wished you ordered those parts painted to match exterior?

If need be, use painter's tape to mask off the black plastic parts when waxing and/or polishing your car.

Another vote for 303. I use it on all plastic and rubber parts and it looks great. It's a little shiny when first applied but looks new and natural after a couple of hours. Griots vinyl and rubber is also excellent, slightly more gloss but still not really shiny.

I have 303 on my list of future purchases. Sounds like a plan.

A good place to buy, when he's running discounts and you need other items, is from Phil at Detailers Domain. Sign-up for his emails. He's a Rennlister, too. I buy a gallon (to refill my 32 ounce bottle) of 303, and it last for a couple years. Cheapest cost per ounce method.

(bumping long dead thread... sorry)

So aerospace 303 does a great job protecting the black plastic bits... but what about restoring them?

Lots of plastic exterior bits on my car that used to be black have faded to a grey-ish color. Will the aerospace 303 help bring them back?

Anyone have experience comparing it to that as-seen-on-tv stuff called "wipe new"? A friend told me "wipe new" works wonders, but I'm curious if 303 would be even better....

If you're looking for long term protection that doesn't require reapplications then you might want to look into Optimum Opti-Trim Protect. It can be applied by your local authorized installer.

303 will not restore faded plastic. You'll need a permanent black dye.

303 is great for tires (nice and matte) or if I'm in a big hurry, but it doesn't do the magic that Black Wow does. I've used the older formula that is thicker, and the newer "pro" formula which is thinner. Both work great, but the "pro" is a bit easier to apply.

I second getting the gallon of 303. I use it on canvas and vinyl on my boat, and on my tires for all the vehicles.

Seriously, grab some of each from Phil at Detailer's Domain...Rennlisters get a discount with the "RENNLIST" coupon code.

303 is good stuff. But what's better is having access to my company chemist and his secret concoctions. We tell him what we need, show him the existing products and sit back. Sadly, we don't do car products (other than the fuel treatment) so we don't sell these one offs.

For cleaning plastic interior and exterior I use 1 Einzet Plastik cleaner. For dressing I use CarPro Pearl, another good choice is Adam's VRT. I mix Pearl with distilled water to achieve a flat look. I also use 303 on my dash to protect from UV.

For restoring, I second the 1Z Deep Plastic cleaner and then either coating them or one of the others mentioned. Cleaning the old plastic is a primary step.
