California Car Duster vs Griot's Micro Fiber Duster
Anybody using a duster around these parts? What do you prefer - the California Car Duster or Griot's Micro Fiber one?
I've had the former for about 10 years now but recently washed it and now it doesn't work as well. So I'm looking for a replacement.
Thanks!

Big mistake, don't ever wash your duster!I know it goes against any logical thought but 15 years ago I met a guy with a black car that literally didn't have a swirl, towel mark, etc anywhere. He had a whole process involving never using water, master blaster, etc but he said his day to day was his old school and very dirty looking wood handled California duster. I had never liked them before as they just seemed to move the dust around. I tried his and was sold, so now I'm that guy at the concours with the dirty looking duster... I use it on all my show cars, here is my black 86 that hasn't been polished in 2 years just use a duster:

Thanks Nathan! Yeah, I wasn't supposed to wash it but it was just so filthy looking... Met the California Car Duster guys at SEMA, they said instead of washing it you can vacuum it and that will suck out a lot of the particles.
But I'm still intrigued by Griot's though. So I wanted to see if anyone has experience with both...

I think when you washed it, you removed the paraffin layer, which is like the magic glue. TIP: only use the CA Duster on a cool car, not warm or hot (because the paraffin melts and leaves marks).

I have both Griots and California Duster and prefer the California. I use the California on my DD's and the Griots on the Spyder. The griots works well initially but as it gets dirty it just moves the dust to the edge of the panel instead of lifting it. I'm tossing the griots duster before we move and buying a new California duster for the Spyder.
