It's not that bad. We have a temperate climate, similar to that of New York but with much less summer humidity.

have any of you seen that platemakers.com site? you can order a custom license plate - just like a real plate but in the colors you want. i am thinking of doing it.

NYC requires front and rear plates; unobstructed. Also, due to the new congestion pricing, people have been using fake plates to bypass paying the tolls-- which led to crackdown on plates.

CA is a two-plate state but I’ve never bothered with the front — the front plate just murders the look of a clean bumper. Worst case it’s a fix-it ticket — at which point I’ll slap on a 3M tape mount for the photo op, then take it right back off. Haven’t caught a single citation for it in 20 years, and same goes for dark tint on the fronts and windshield. At some point you just accept that certain compromises aren’t worth making for a violation that, in practice, nobody seems to care about. Life’s too short to stare at a front plate bracket every time you walk up to your car.

Default Resqme (or similar glass breaker/seatbelt cutter)

Anyone keep a Resqme (or similar glass breaker/seatbelt cutter) on their keychain? Given the E3's dead battery lockout vulnerabilities — and the questionable existence of an emergency hood release cable on US-spec cars — it seems like the most practical emergency tool to always have on you.

Also useful in more serious scenarios like an accident where the seatbelt is jammed, or if the car goes underwater and the windows have frozen shut and doors can't be opened. I just ordered 3 for each of my cars. Plan to store it inside the car center console/glove compartment/visor since I like to keep my Porsche key light — anyways it has Apple AirTag on it.

Amazon (with Accessory Pack)

I have a multitool in each car. A couple are Chinese knockoffs from Amazon rather than expensive Gerber or Leatherman.

That is why I have a useful tool rather than a mini hammer. But the life hammer when it first came out was probably $39.95 and the knockoffs now are probably $5.99.
