Default Cargo area cover

I picked up my 2023 Cayenne last Saturday and am very happy so far. Its a dealer loaner car.
Does a Cayenne come with a rear cargo area cover? I took out a different Cayenne for my first 2 test drives until the loaner came back, so i finally got to give the actual car a whirl.
When I was going over the other car the first 2 times looking at the rear area I thought there was a cargo cover, I may have it confused with the Macan.

So the question is this, does the Cayenne come with a cargo cover?

Yes, the Cayenne should have a cargo cover, it is standard equipment (US).

The covers (at least on the SUV) are removable. Part #9Y0867773, available here for about $550.

I looked at two Cayennes and neither had the removable cover installed. The first one was lost and I used that to negotiate an additional $600 off the final, agreed on price. It was a great “one more thing” moment after the dealer thought we had a deal. 😎

The second one wasn’t installed either; I was planning on another “one more thing” moment. 😎 Lucky for the owner, he dug around his basement and found it — he had forgotten he even had it. I promptly removed it and stored it in the closet as soon as I drove it home.

I removed it for two reasons:

1. I use mine as a daily driver and routinely haul goodies from the hardware store with the seats down. The cargo cover gets in the way.

2. The Cayenne comes standard with privacy glass in all windows aft of the B pillar. I don’t see a need for an additional cover.

@Schnave @TXSchnee I contacted the salesman this morning and he confirmed it was forgotten upon delivery and I can pick it up anytime.
If I use it great, If i dont based on the reasons above, at least I have it as it was part of the original car.

Thanks guys.

I use the cover all the time. And I remove it frequently. A useful and used item in my Cayenne and in all previous SUVs in my fleet.

it feels like the cargo cover is decent quality, but it also feels like any friction with the wrong surface could easily mar it so every time i remove it i am super carful with where i put it and worry it will get bumped or rubbed and damaged.

I normally don't use it either, but if you use it on very hot days, it really cools your vehicle faster since it does not need to cool the entire hot rear area.

It's a pity that Porsche didn't use the solution from the Audi Q8 in which the cargo cover is electric and you don't have to worry about damaging it or scratching the trunk trim.

yeah i wondered that myself. it is a bit clumsy to yank it. and if you are out and about and need to yank it, it isn’t easily stowed anyplace in the vehicle so i keep a blanket on hand so i can wrap it up if need arises.

I happen to have an extra cargo cover that I forgot to put back into my previous Cayenne that I’d be glad to get rid of. If anyone wants it, send me a PM.

It would be nice if the Cayenne had a storage slot under the rear floor for the cargo cover like some vehicles including our Prius have.

It looks like it's option code:

1AE06 - Cargo shield storage compartment --- $9,675

Prior to getting my Cayenne, I was shopping for an X5 and noticed the solution that you've called out on your post above. I believe that it was then (maybe still is) an option. Most of the vehicles (used) that I either looked at firsthand or online did not have it unfortunately.

Maybe with the '24 model, they've included it as standard equipment...
