Crunched side mirror
So I crunched the side mirror against the side of the garage. The housing is cracked and the mirror glass itself popped off. Is there a trick to getting the mirror glass back on? I can only do it if I take the cracked housing off and then hold the pivoting circle from the back. But then I cannot get the housing back on since the glass is in the way. Thanks.

Thanks man. It turns out that the actual ring on the motor was dislodged which is why it was so loose and impossible to snap the mirror onto. I was able to get it back in place and the mirror reinstalled. Now I just need a top housing replacement......

Are you still under cpo? It shouldn't have come lose. You could always have the cap repaired vs replacing it. Just make sure a body shop takes off the mirror cap and doesn't spray on the car lol. You don't want over spray.

Hmmm looks like the unpainted top cover is ~$150 and the side marker lamp is ~$78. But the entire assembly including mirror and all internal components is $365....

No luck on ebay sadly.

This says "painted". I'll have to reach out to ask whether that means I specify which color I want and it comes pre-painted, or if it simply means primed for paint.

So just as an update to this in case it ever helps anyone else. I was able to buy the mirror cover and the signal lamp from Porsche Delaware:
Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
9Y1-857-528-C-G2X Rear Cover $154.93 1 $154.93
9Y1-949-102-D Signal Lamp $78.08 1 $78.08
Total with shipping: $246.34
I then took the cover to a local Porsche certified body shop and had them paint it for $170.
Now I just need to wait for it to be slightly less hot and humid so that I remove the broken parts and replace with the new ones.

The day I spend $1500 for some carbon fiber mirror caps on a 6000 lbs family hauler is the day someone needs to contact the local loony bin and sign the papers.

I installed the new parts today. Took 10 mins; pretty lucky overall that it was just the cap and the signal light that broke. Could have been a lot worse. <$500 all in to fix my oopsie is quite good considering the Porsche tax on most things. Although if I went through the stealership it would probably be close to $1500.
