Looking for GTS or Turbo (V8) Oil Change Procedure
#16
Ravenol also has one that looks good but hard to know which is best with all the marketing jargon.

The V8 seems like something worth not cheaping out on maintenance on.

I’ve had my oil changed at two different dealerships. Both used Mobile 1 ESP X3. EDIT: Most recently (3rd service), the dealer used Liquid Moly.
See the Manufacturers Certificate of Approved Porsche C40 Engine Oils, attached. Of note, Liquid Moly and Ravenol are on the list. Motul was not approved as of 31 August 2021, the date of publication. They probably received the approval after publication. Approvals expire after 2 or 3 years and must undergo recertification.

When going to suncoast parts website for oil filter and drain plug, its showing a plastic drain plug that looks like what you get in 911 drain pan. Can anyone confirm the part numbers for the filter, drain plug, and crush washers?
Also, does the engine take 8,9, or 10 qts?

Here’s a parts list from my last two oil changes at the same Porsche dealership. (2019 Turbo).
Looking at my records, I’ve been charged for either 9 quarts (once) or 10 quarts of oil (twice).
10 Quarts Mobile 1 ESP X3:
Here they used 9 Quarts Liquid Moly:

Thanks Schnave, great info again. Still not sure if you're a human or an actual research AI from the future.
Porsche could recommend Mobile 1 ESP X3 because they worked on it, and not necessarily because it's the best. Sunk cost fallacy at a corporate yadda yadda. Maybe they have a commercial and marketing agreement too. But it also could be the safest option.
Soo.. after bit of googling myself, doesn't seem like anyone online cares too much about oil brands or oil technology as long as it's approved.
Was checking to see if there were any expert opinions for this optimization and didn't find much, so maybe seems any approved oil is fine.

Looks like the only C40 approved 0w40 oil is the Mobil 1 X3. LM is 5w40 only and as mentioned Motul is A40 approved only. Does anyone use 5w40 year around? My car is kept outdoors and will see a lot of cold starts.

0W can go down to -30c while 5W can go down to -25C without being gluey. If you park your car outside very often in winter, I would suggest to use 0W oils.

Because I have years worth of data of oil samples, going back to 2010, across 10+ cars, several dozen oil changes and time after time Mobil 1 is the worst performing oil as far as viscosity, metal wear, and protectants. So I am basing what I say purely on data. I’ll even go as far as to say Motorcraft oil is better than Mobil stuff. I change my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles (sometimes a lot sooner) and every sample goes to blackstone. I have never seen as bad oil as Mobil. Granted, this X3 isnt something I have ever used.
