I’ve had my eye on this charger, as well. Suitable for LFP batteries, slightly higher output than CTEK (4.3 amps). Cheaper too — only $70 vs $111 for the CTEK. Two thumbs up! 👍🏼👍🏼

If you wish wish to charge your battery through the 12V receptacle you can purchase this adapter for about $18:

That's good, since I bought it a couple of days ago -- Amazon Prime day for $45, was delivered yesterday.

Thanks for the tip on the 12V receptacle -- will order one.

It would be a good idea to put your Cayenne on a battery charger during the two month trip. CTEK also makes AGM chargers:

Or you could get a NOCO Genius — it can handle both Lithium and AGM batteries for half the price:

I use a "Topdon T4000" - works great. It's rated at 4 amps - it took some 6 hours to charge the battery when I first tried it.

I suppose 1-amp charger could maintain your fully-charged battery but I recommend a 4 or 5 amp charger. The 1-amp will take several days to charge a low battery, whereas the 5 amp will charge it overnight.

I’ll sometimes discharge my battery while messing with the PCM and taking photos for posts on this forum. Afterwards, I’ll just plug in my 4.3 amp CTEK and the battery is fully charged in the morning.

Additionally, your AGM is a 50% larger 92Ah battery compared to the 60Ah Lithium (LFP) battery. (They both provide about the same amount of useable power, due to the LFP’s efficiency). You could use the extra charger capacity when your battery is discharged.

Is there any new information on an AGM retrofit for pre-2022 9Y0? My 2020 S has the same battery as Schnave, a LiFePO4. Would love to save $1500 on a replacement battery.

You have Rear Wheel Steering, yes? only Cayennes equipped with RWS get the li-ion battery because the AGM batteries cannot delivery the instant electrical surges that optional system needs. You can replace with an AGM battery (you will need an adapter harness from Porsche). Hiwever, your RWS will no longer work correctly and Porsche will void any remaining warranty work relative to the OEM battery.

No RAS. Are you thinking of PDCC which uses a 48V system? My S has neither RAS nor PDCC.

My 2022, June 2022 build, has RWS and an AGM battery and I’m glad.

Hello drcollie. I think that only applies to the 992’s. All 9YO’s come standard with LFP batteries. However, there is a 12V LFP battery shortage. Big problem with Taycan deliveries. They’re being held back for lack of 12V LFP batteries. Evidently, they can’t adapt to the AGM battery.

Looks like the more conventional Cayenne model is more adaptable than the Taycan, so Porsche is temporarily delivering them with AGM batteries.

I have RWS and an AGM on a '22 Turbo.

We, Antigravity Batteries, have been holding back a bit on figuring the retrofit option, and just seeing if an active user of a Car like the Cayennes or 992 wants to go that route and try some stuff. The reason being is we have seen too many Porsche Dealers tell Customers that putting and Antigravity Lithium Battery in thier Car voids their warranty. This is utter and complete BOLONEY, but this is how the Dealerships are responding to non-Porsche products, and it always makes our Customers get very scared when Porsche claims this, but luckly we have many years of running our stuff in Porsches, and every other brand of Car to show this is a nonsense talk from Porsche, and also we have the Magnusson-Moss Act that allows Customer to put in aftermarket parts in their Cars.... so Porsche really can't cancel any warranty for adding any aftermarket part unless it is something quite different from the original part or Changes the operation of the Car... which a Lithium battery doesn't do...

But also the last thing we want is Porsche telling a Customer it is OUR fault for telling them they can simply do this Harness Change and be able to use a different battery, because that just creates conflict and the Customer may think some thing wrong with the car was due to the battery swap they did. I am keeping and eye on it closely and we are figuring the part#s and have an inside line on this by having a Porsche Mechanic at a dealership telling us about it. But they have only heard of it being done once. But we also need to find those persons with the car to test that when it comes out. And being blunt that requires a Car Owner/Tester that knows that this is not going to harm their car and understands all the concepts. Because the second they take the Car to a Porsche dealership, the Porsche Dealer is going to say that any and every problem with the Car is because they changed something in the Car. I'm personally hoping Porsche has enough issues that they just make this change themselves and offer it to the Customers because then it will be blessed by Porsche, and Porsche won't be able to claim any boloney.
