Default Live fuse location

Guys, where can I locate a permanent live fuse and what's its number please? I want to install a dash cam that has parking mode.
Thanks

Hello Addbuyer. All my picture are for left-hand drive vehicles. Your fuse boxes might be on the opposite side (not sure).

Here’s some other relevant threads:
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...f-problem.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...twell-12v.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...n-cayenne.html
https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...-fuse-box.html

All the fuses on the side of the instrument panel are hot at all times. Use a trim tool or similar to pry off the access panel. (I keep one in my glovebox). Note that the panel has spare fuses, a fuse puller, and a wrench for manually closing the pano roof.

The fuse block has pink covers that pop off. The compartment also has a couple bolts that can be used for a ground connection.

The fuse block under the driver’s dead pedal (LH drive) offers both always hot and switched power. This might be a better option if you later choose to re-wire to switched power. Many have reported dead batteries caused by dash cams that don’t shut off when detecting low battery levels. I suspect they are calibrated for lead-acid batteries and don’t play well with the Cayenne’s lithium phosphate battery.

Fuses D-14 and D-15 are switched. For always hot power, see chart below.

For always hot power, you may wish to try these circuits on Row E. I think these circuits would require power with the ignition off. Check your owner’s manual for complete fuse charts. They vary by model year. This chart is from a 2021.

To remove the dead pedal fuse cover, pry off the cap, then use a Torx T30 (located in the tool kit underneath the inflator) to remove the screw.

Good luck!

Amazingly detailed reply yet again mate.
Do you actually pull your car apart to get the photos that you add to most of your @help@ replies?
Cheers, Andy

I sure do! Old habits die hard. I was a pilot for 45 years and was required to know every inch of the aircraft, and how every system worked in exact detail. One thing I learned early on — if you’re just getting checked out in a new aircraft and wondering what that little red button does, don’t push it! That’s why they painted it red. I didn’t crash, but it sure left a lasting impression. Had I better known the system, I certainly wouldn’t have pushed it while in flight. 😎

Are you going to install a battery pack to use parking mode? The dashcam will drain your car battery if you don’t have a low voltage cut off module nor a dashcam battery.

One used one available on eBay as of 20 March 2022 for $44:

Thank you Schnave! I had searched many times for a diagram to indicate that part number but had never been able to find the right one.

The switched fuses under the dead pedal, for example the “socket supply” seems to have power for approximately 30 minutes after turning the ignition off.
I’m planning to wire up a BlackVue battery but need an ignition only fuse. Any idea what can be done here ?
I need an ignition fuse that turns off immediately once you turn off the switch, Dont want the battery charging at 9amps for 30 minutes without the engine running

I wired the radar detector to D14 or D15 (both 5A) which are ignition fuses.

For Blackvue battery, I simply just use the trunk 12V socket and put the battery next to spare tire and set it to charge in lower amp (5A). The battery will be fully charged in 45-60 minutes when ignition is on. I don't know where the battery would go if I hardwire the battery to the dead pedal fuse box.

Thanks for this overview. Using this, I connected my dashcam.

Car is now equipped with a front and rear camera, with parking mode. Installed everything last Friday and it works perfectly. Dashcam also switches to parking mode, when i turn the ignition off.

I have used D15 for switched power en E14 for always hot power.

Default Thank You All!

The first leg of the final installation of my Vantrue E1 dashcam is complete and this site and your contributions to this thread were especially helpful, with a special hat tip to @Schnave for his detailed photos.

If you're headed to the fuse block under the dead pedal, I "MacGyvered" a tool to assist in running the hot lead. Basically a stiff spring loaded grabber with a short piece of stuff tubing fastened to the end. I pushed the combo down to the carpeted area and then pushed the wire through the makeshift conduit. Worked like a champ!

MacGyver wire conduit gizmo

The end of the "conduit".
