Default 9YO Porsche cayenne gts Ecu Bench questions

Hello new to the forum. Turned on by another PCA member.

Looking for direction on how to disconnect the negative battery terminal so that I can remove the ECU. Is this needed? Can I just disable the fuse or other way?

Welcome to Rennlist.

I didn’t see a fuse dedicated to the ECU. I assume by your question that you can’t find the battery. The location isn’t mentioned in the owner’s manual, either. Thank goodness for Rennlist!👍🏼

Porsche hid it under the front passenger floor. Lift the floor mat to expose the access panel. Shout out to @JCWLS3 for providing the picture in the Cayenne Battery Sticky thread:

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that the 9yo moved the battery on the 2021 GTS. I don't have the same location as others. (believe me with Rennlist.com I researched before asking)

Default Thank you Rennlist.com!

ECU disonnect is similar to a Macon not a 2001-2009. Flat head and twist...

Was a bit hidden under the passenger side seat with a clip similar to the floor mats

Prior to disconnecting the battery, you might want to retrieve the orange transmission lock override wrench from under the cargo compartment floor. If you need to move the vehicle while the ECU is being flashed, you must use this tool to release the transmission lock. Problem is, you need battery power to open the tailgate and access the tool. Or you can crawl over the back seat to unlatch the emergency release. But you’ll need the screwdriver from under the cargo floor to unlatch it. Lots of Catch 22’s with a dead or disconnected battery. While you’re at it, you might consider leaving the tailgate unlatched just in case you need access.

Read all about it in this thread:

I made a small tool kit and placed it in the glovebox for just such occasions.

Where is the actual DME/ECU in the 2019 Cayenne you needed to pull to send for flashing?
