Default Paint Protection

Hello all,

I just ordered a 2022 Cayenne Coupe E Hybrid in chalk. I'm seeing what experiences you guys have had with paint protection. Looking at xpel film vs ceramic coating.

Thanks,

Eric

I’ve never done ceramic on any of my cars, but I have done a full front end Xpel application on my (previous) 2012 Cayenne S, my (current) 2010 911 4S Cab and my (current) 2019 Cayenne Turbo and it has saved my bacon a number of times. I swap the DD duties between both my 911 and my Cayenne based on the weather, and with a 50-mile round trip commute I have had more than a few situations where the Xpel film has kept my paint safe from rocks and other random debris that you tend to run into while highway commuting at speed. Most recently, I caught a nasty rock from a truck ahead of me that bounced off the hood of my Turbo and shattered my windshield - but the hood was perfectly untouched thanks to the film and its self-healing properties .

Personally, I am a huge fan of Xpel and I think it’s a small investment to make in order to protect the paint on a $100k-$140k car!

Xpel is great. Keep in mind ceramic coatings do not protect against road debris chipping/damaging the paint.

Big fan of ppl.

entire 911 wrapped in ppf. Just did our 21 cayenne front. Also a huge fan of clearplex on windshields. Saved me more than once from flying rocks and even rebar on the highways.

The ultimate is Xpel film with ceramic on top of that.

Are "ppl" and "ppf" brand names or are you just saying paint protection? Also how is Clearplex with bugs? And better than glass by itself?

i applied xpel full front ppf with xpel fusion plus ceramic to my chalk Cayenne. Overall I would use both. Film is for protective use and coating for ease of care. My suggestion is find a local shop with excellent reputation or referrals. Look at the cars they’ve done on their website or better yet in person. Ask for a coupe references if no known referrals. These shops should be carrying the appropriate products for your desired outcome.

ppf I’ve had good luck with: xpel and Stek

ceramics I’ve had good luck with: Modesta (4 cars) -maybe overpriced. Xpel fusion- so far so good

good luck

XPEL is for rock chips.

Ceramic coating is for paint protection similar to a long term wax. Helps water bead up. Helps with ease of cleaning.

I'd recommend full front XPEL/Suntek/other paint protection film. Then ceramic coat over it along with the rest of the car.
