Default How to remove ashtray

I noticed that the ashtray door on my base Cayenne is not smoothly opening/closing. It feels like the spring got detached. Does anyone know how to remove the ashtray?. I'd appreciate some tips to do this. I don't want to go to the dealer just for that (especially if it's easy enough to fix). My next service date is still a while to go. Thanks.

I replaced the ashtray with the open storage compartment which I bought at Sun Coast. Much more useful. My phones fit in there with my wallet.
Anyhow, simple affair. Remove the screw at bottom center of the ashtray. You’ll have to pull the surrounding trim piece around the shifting gear/console. Careful not to break it. It only needs to be loosen a bit to tilt the ashtray out of the console. Then disconnect the light power cable.

Hi @tato97 , would you mind posting a photo of the ashtray you removed - specifically where the spring is. I am not sure where the spring should be. I’m posting photos here of the part I’m curious about.

I wonder where that spring and white rubbery plastic part should be installed.

I’m guessing the spring slides somewhere on the circle.

Thank you very much.

Here are the pictures of the spring. The white rubbery part you have in your picture above is to prevent rattles. It goes over the sharp plastic extensions in the center of the ashtray right bellow the Chayenne log

What type of Screw is holding this ashtray base in place. Once that is removed, how difficult to take out?

Thanks !

I believe it is a torx screw. Sorry I forgot what size it is. I happen to have a set of small torx screw drivers and got lucky to have one that fits.
It really was not difficult to take out.

I'd like to replace my ashtray with a storage bin.
