Thanks for posting this EnormousEli. Hoping the newest adaptive/matrix lights might be better than the ones tested in 2015 or the those reflected in your more recent study.

Any updates on this? Still hoping my Matrix lights will get fully activated one day!

Timetable now shows a projected final rule on “10/00/2020.”

Well, here we are in the middle of October, any word on a ruling yet? He says already knowing what the answer is.

In addition to being active in Europe, I believe the Matrix LED lights are active in Canada as well. I haven’t seen the same disclaimer on the Canadian website.

I believe Canada allows full operation of matrix LED headlights through CMVSS 108.1, which incorporates the relevant UNECE regulations. Since the matrix LED lights are allowed under UNECE regulations, they are allowed to be used in Canada. The US does not have a corresponding FMVSS 108.1, so they are not allowed in the US.

I wonder whether a Canadian dealer servicing a car from the US will turn them on? Of course, it will be a while before Canadians and Americans can drive across the border.

Hah, I just looked at the window stickers on several 2019 Cayennes (9YA). They all say Matrix "STYLE" Headlights.

Us darn Canadians, first we led with daytime running lights and now we have Matrix LEDs. What is with us wanting to see and be seen when driving??

Has anyone here successful in coding the matrix headlights using PIWIS 3?
Asking for a friend, for off-road research purposes only, on a closed highway....

Coincidentally I got a PIWIS 3 recently , but I don't know a pathway for such coding, nor I would be willing to, in respect to the NHTSA rules.

Not sure if any of you follow the GLE forum at mbworld.org, but there are similar threads. In one recent thread, folks have found a seller on eBay who can unlock the program (pretty expensive, though).
