2019 Cayenne

In an Panamera it's much improved. However, it still doesn't feel, well, spirited in any manner. I would think in the Cayenne it would feel similar. Interesting to see the difference between the PDK in the Panamera and the Slushbox in the Cayenne. I was actually unimpressed with the low speed behavior of the PDK.

Reviews say that 2019 base is adequate.
0-60 is 5.9 on base and 4.9 on S
https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/c...els/cayenne-s/
So 2019 base sounds like it is faster than 955 S

Did some minor Google'ing and didn't have much luck. Everything came back for the S or Turbo.

Current V6 0-60 is 7.3
Current S is 5.2

So indeed 2019 Base is not sluggish

Just got an update from the dealer that the new Turbo should be available for December 2018 or later delivery (as opposed to originally expected fall 2018 delivery). I wonder if anyone has more info on if it's true.

I got exactly the same dates from mine. Definitely later than anyone expected. So much for hoping to ED 2019 Turbo in September-October.

Back to the engines: The base Cayenne is powered by Porsche’s 3.0-liter single-turbo V-6 that develops 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, up 40 hp and 37 lb-ft on its predecessor’s 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V-6. The Cayenne S gets the 440-hp, 405-lb-ft 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 originally developed by Audi. Power is up by 20 horses compared with the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 of the outgoing Cayenne S, and peak torque is about the same.
The Cayenne Turbo boasts Porsche’s potent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8—the all-new engine that made its debut last year in the Panamera—under its hood. With 550 hp and 567 lb-ft of torque, it delivers a useful 30 hp and 14 lb-ft more than the 4.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 that powered the previous Cayenne Turbo—enough, says Porsche, to slingshot the new model to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds (3.7 seconds with the Sport Chrono Pack fitted) en route to a top speed of 177 mph.

Wow ^ that is later dates than I had expected from talking with the dealer.
But does anybody really think the 2018 is a better Porsche and SUV than the new one to be in 2019?

From motortrend.
If I were to guess, the base engine is newly developed. I actually thought the base Cayenne had the engine of the Macan S. Both 3.0L V-6, but the latter has twin-turbos, while the Cayenne's engine uses a single turbo. The S and Turbo use engines already in production.

My 2 gripes with the 2019 is the rear design and the controls being replaced with a touch display. I can't pinpoint to exactly what the rear needs. I like the "3D" lights on other Porsche models and think its a cool concept, but its not working for me in the new Cayenne. What I'm excited about are the new powertrains. In fact, what I'm most looking forward to is the hybrid version, if its in the works.
