The rear weight bias of the 911 is why I went with the longer trailer. The extra four feet are only a 200 lb penalty for a bunch more load control... I expect to be close to hitting the 7,700 lb towing limit.

Ordered the ultra cool Weigh Safe trailer hitch, back up camera for highway use and the Prodigy RF electric brake controller.

Oh and Eskimo1- forgot to answer your MPG question with my last response. Loaded with the car/fuel/tires I did a 160 mile round trip run the other day @75-80mph highway cruise for 80% of the route. 15.5mpg on the way there with the wind, 14.6 on the way back against the wind. Couple more shorter trips since then and they've all been right around the 15mpg average so it looks like the Diesel + enclosed trailer advertised mileage of 15mpg is dead on. I'm thrilled with the improvement over the 957 T that was roughly 8-9mpg at 70-75mph and would hardly ever cruise in 6th gear, it was almost always in 5th and often 4th. The Diesel will drop into 8th gear almost immediately once I get above 72mph and will maintain it over most mild grades. Only a moderate to steep overpass grade requires a downshift past 7th to 6th. Currently my only gripe about the Diesel is my 18" wheel/tire combo. As expected, there's a ton more sidewall squirm from the previous 21s on the Turbo so I'm on the hunt for a set of takeoffs now. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of daily ride quality to reduce that squirm while towing, plus I'm plenty vain enough to admit the 18s really make it look extra soccer momish

Thanks! I'm pulling mine 1100 miles starting next Thursday from central PA to VIR in Alton VA, and like you, my previous tow rig (An 8.1L engine'd Chevy Avalanche) was 8-9mpg - I'll be ecstatic if I can average 15, and should, since my trailer is just a 7x16 (even with the extra height and A/C on top). I personally think the 20" wheel package is a great size (and tires are much less expensive), but I may be biased since my CD came with the 20" RS wheels. Hopefully the hills don't kill the MPG!

Soccor mom-ish not withstanding, you can get higher load rated 18" tires that will help with the squirm. And will probably make for better day to day driving with the stiffer sidewalls.

Prepare to be shocked- in a good way then. I'm still shaking my head that I can average 4mpg more than either a 2016 Denali HD or a 2017 RAM 2500 with the air suspension and 3.42s, hauling the exact same trailer- and the RAM did it with the trailer empty for a 1000 miles from Indiana to North Texas- not exactly a horribly hilly route (parts of the Ozarks withstanding). Definitely report back after your trip on your mileage/experiences. As for wheel package options-20s or 21s, either is fine...just not the 18s.

Oh for sure I can toss some E range 18s on there and completely take care of the squirm. However, it doesn't do anything for the vanity side of the equation-which I readily admit is a major consideration. Sooner or later someone will have a set of 20s/21s they took off for whatever reason they're willing to sell at not OMGILOOKEDATSUNCOASTANDTHEYRETHISMUCHBRANDNEW pricing.

Hahaha yeah brand new from Porsche is definitely OMG.

When I bought my '15 my dealer offered to match Suncoast (which is a nice discount over MSRP) but I haven't taken them up on it. My sales guy found me 2 different sets, used, from clients of his.... for less than half of what "new" sold for.... and both sets wound up sold out from under me.

Seems when they pop up for a reasonable price, they go FAST.

Those that can afford new sets of any of the Cayenne wheels have some deep pockets. The cheapest set is like right around $5,000 for a set of four wheels.

Just got a new (to me) boat. It right at the weight limit. But it tows great. Only going to do it the couple miles back and forth to the ramp.

Wow. That hull, alone, is all of 7,700 lbs, never mind twin outboards and a triple axle trailer. I'm impressed that the Cayenne gets it done.

Intrepid says it was 3300 with the t-top no fluids or motors when it left the factory. Motors are 583lbs each. So 5500lbs with fluids plus the trailer, gas, and gear.
