How to upsize a Cayenne's carrying capacity!
Used this setup for the 1000 mile drive back from Colorado to Chicago. Month long summer backpacking camp at cheley for our boys made for lots of equipment. Carrier holds 34 cubic feet. Averaged 81 mph and 28 mpg (diesel) ... not bad. 14 hour trip all in. To average 81 we were hitting 95 for periods of time.
Had a Corvette tucked in behind me across eastern Nebraska and almost all of Iowa. He loved the escort. Waze, k40 laser jammer / front & rear radar, 70 & 75 mph posted speed limits and correct lane placement makes it easier than when the speed limit was 55 mph.
Diesel in mountains and on hills in Iowa is unbelievable btw.

I agree, but man does it swallow up the goods. Road trip was 14 hours and it was on the car for 14 hours and 5 minutes. Easy to put on and remove.
If you are in the Chicago area you may borrow it free of charge!

I used one last summer for our trip to Disney.
The one I have though is soft-sided so it was easy to collapse and take with us into the hotel so we can drive around town without it being in the way.
They're not the prettiest things to look at but it worked great!

Wowzers, looks like you could fit a Monkey Bike in there pretty easily. Ditto to that question; is it on any sort of hitch swingout, so you don't have to remove to access the hatch?
Another way to upsize carrying capacity is dueling roof boxes; https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...t-works-2.html

Yes ... box slides out once you remove through bolt. It has a catch cable to keep it from being pulled too far out. The thing is lightweight and I think you could fit a donkey bike in it, whatever that is.
In fact, there is an adapter for loading 2 bikes in it, without front wheels attached. I didn't buy that though. I love it when I need it.

Only issue I can see from the photo is stability. Ever notice the side to side sway of bicycles hung out back? The trailer hitch supports the weight of our Wilco Hitchgate - then we tied into both rear tow hook receptacles for stability. Would think this to be even more necessary with the box should the contents shift.

Mine's been stable upwards of 105 for some lengths. Garden-variety Thule box, but using Porsche's cross-members. Don't know if it affected the mileage or not as I already drive it like I've stolen it. Once you drop to ~13mpg it doesn't seem to get any worse regardless of what you strap to the roof!
