Default Jerky 1-2, 2-3 shifts CD 2015

Hi guys.

I just recently piked up a post-fix 2015 CD with 16K miles for 47K (MSRP 77K). After driving it for awhile I noted quite jerky shifting pattern under moderate or fast acceleration between 1-2 and 2-3 gears. The rest of gears shift flawlessly. It doesn't matter if the car is cold or fully warmed up. I scheduled an appointment with a Porsche dealer, but before you I go there I wanted to check with you if that's an unusual behavior. We also have 2015 X5 35D with ZF transmission and it shift flawlessly under any circumstances. I expected the same for CD and wasn't even thinking something can be wrong on a 16K mile car.

Assuming it's under warranty (and CPO for a long time) - let the dealer sort it out. While there have been no confirmed transfer case failures on the diesel (or hybrid) Cayennes - yours could be a first. And yes - it's unusual behavior.. (I had an oil burner loaner for a month or so - and the transmission shifted smoothly..)

Yes, it’s under a factory warranty right now.

i also just got a post fix 15 CD. It has some odd shift hesitation then jerk forward as well. I’ve read it has a lot to do with the fix. And the new engine and transmission siftware update but it’s back at the dealer now. I’m also having bad steering wheel vibration when idle in gear like at a stop sign. . Do you have any wheel vibration at idle?

Thats a shame. It’s very annoying to drive with, but ill let you know what the dealer says about mine as soon as I hear.

There have been confirmed CD transfer case failures. It sounds like another one.

I have a 2014 CD and had slight jerking. When I took it in for the emissions fix in Nov 2017 with just over 33,000 miles, they said the TC was faulty and replaced under warranty No issues since.

So we can conclude - there have been TC replacements on diesel-engined Cayennes - but it is quite infrequent compared to the gasoline models?

Yes. I would speculate, that diesels just do not make enough power to break them. At least not as often.

I can agree with that, but I believe there are less diesels out there and not every owner is on the forum to add their experience. My jerking was slight and not consistent. I didn't even think about when I went in for service. The dealership test drove it and asked about it. From looking at my service invoice I don't see any indication of a vent upgrade added to my TC as others have said.

So, here's a continuation of the story. I took it to the dealer, they acknowledged the problem, re-flashed Tiptronic control unit and reset the adaptation values. I picked up the car and immediately noticed that the problem wasn't solved. Took it back to the dealer. They say the transmission need to relearn. We agreed I would drive it for several days and then contact them if the car keeps doing it. I drove it already for about 20 miles and I can tell it's still the same behavior.

The diesels use a different transfer case than the petrol-burning Cayenne's. That's why.
