-It’s an amazing piece of kit. For such a heavy car it is really capable and it’s such a bonus to finally be able to pass the Prius camped out in the left lane!
-the seats are amazingly comfy
-the transition from electric to ICE is usually smooth BUT not always. I was frankly hoping for a more seamless experience but it’s not always the case. There’s a bit of jerkiness.
-the transmission is pretty fickle. I’m not really that impressed frankly. In traffic (I’m in the Bay Area —it’s a fact of life) there is that aforementioned jerkiness. It wants to be in second gear a lot of the time in stop and go and it’ll tend to buck around especially when the ICE is kicking in and out. It’s just not as seamless as I hoped it’d be.
-I honestly wish the all electric range was further. Like I mentioned before, my commute is typically longer at about 50 miles each way. I love that the first half I get about 40+ miles per gallon. But not having a plug-in at my random work destination cuts into the hybrid efficiency and almost makes it more of a gimmick. Of course I kinda knew this going in (hybrid tech helped sell the car to the spouse &#128540.
-It’s for the 7.2Kw charger, so I’m gonna get 240 installed in the garage this year for a 90 minute refill on the electrons.
Final thought: God I love it. Every time I drive it is like it’s my birthday. Yay me!!
I feel the same way.

My commute is 40 miles each way, and like you I don’t have charging at my company. I E-Power it for 2.5 miles to the freeway and then once up to speed turn E-Power OFF. Then about 4 miles from my work I turn E-Power back ON again and EV all the way to work. Then I do the same on my way home. My first tank was 33MPG and 665 Miles. My second tank was 39MPG and 766 Miles. I think my average MPG per tank is likely to be somewhere between the two, closer to 33 just because I won’t always be able to drive conservatively like i have been. It’s just too fun!

Default Newbie Question

Being a newbie to the forum I’m really glad to have found it. I have a 2017 SEH Platinum Edition that I recently bought CPO from my local Porsche dealer after coming off a three year lease. It has 35K miles on it. It does not have adaptive cruise control or PASM adaptive suspension (no Sport Plus mode).

After reading through all the threads I now have a better understanding of how best to utilize the various drive modes. As recommended in the forum, I will be proactive and change the engine oil every 5K mi to avoid the oil degradation issues caused by reduced ICE use. I just purchased a graduated dipstick to monitor the oil level and I will also do a Blackstone analysis at my next oil change to check for possible contamination.

I plan on DIY oil, filters and spark plug changes. No where in the o.manual can I find capacities and parts/lubricants to use. I’m pretty sure the engine is a Audi sourced Supercharged 3.0L V6. Can any forum contributors provide help on where I might resource this info. Thanks !

Hi, Been away from this forum for a while, but now need some help with sourcing a rather random part that has fallen off from my 2017 S-E Hybrid. It is part of the front splitter on the front of the car. I have included an image below. I am based in Thailand, does anyone know of a good place to source this? I would like to buy it, and then get my dealer to install it for me.

Thank you!

That piece is different between the base/S and the GTS/Turbo models. The GTS & Turbo have a scoop that fits over both the grille AND over the indicator lamp assembly. Curiously, though, it doesn't show up on the usual dealer part database websites. You might have to call a dealer to find out the actual part number.

Does anyone have info on the hybrid warranty in a PDF from Porsche?

Im looking at a CPO ‘17 Cayenne S e-hybrid, but can’t find any info on warranty directly from Porsche about the details on their site.

Ive seen both 96 mo/80K mi and 96 mo/100K mi listed.

Does warranty cover both battery and motor replacement?

The one I’m looking at already has 51K mi. So the price is good and I only drive roughly 6K mi annually and don’t plan to hold the car past 3 year.

.
just purchased a 2016 SEH for my parents also.
Really very beautiful, and at least my particular used SEH purchase both the interior and exterior are in better condition than my 2016 tesla X I've owned since new.
I also test drove quite a few 2016 cayennes and felt like the SEH was so much smoother and quieter and nicer than the base ICE cayenne.
similar warranty question and others...

1) can anyone confirm the battery warranty?
Also can anyone confirm if the exhaust warranty is 8yr/80k??

2) do you always have to hit unlock on the key fob to remove the OEM 110v charging cable? Really annoying

3) did Porsche provide a Porsche oem 240v home charger or just the 110v? I did see the link in this thread for the 3rd party one from Amazon that I would strongly consider if it didn't have the annoying lock feature. Also has anyone compared the thermal efficiency of 110 vs 240? On my tesla the 240 is far more efficient and therefore cheaper to run

4) does anyone have a copy of the SEH specific owner manual instructions or were these included in all the base/s/gts manuals I see on eBay?

5) any harm leaving the battery at 100% or 0% charge? In my tesla these are no nos.
anyone know how much battery buffer Porsche designed?
Also If the battery reaches 0, does it automatically e-charge?

6) what does the button next to the charging outlet do? Timer?

Hybrid Battery and related components 96/80k miles

AFAIK you do need to unlock using fob. But you can unlock by starting car then jumping out an unplugging- you have 20 seconds

The charging kit should have come with one of several differnet 240 plug configurations on a three to four foot or so pigtail that attaches to the top of the unit. The 120 volt cord attaches to the same place. The car cable attaches to the bottom. They cae with either an 8 foot or 25 foot cable. There should be a little ziplock bag with the screws and Allen wrench to secure the cables to the unit. The actual charger is onboard the vehicle. The charger unit is just an interface to get elecric to the car. IIRC there are two versions. One of which can be set with a PIN to use.

Never compared thermal numbers - but it takes close to 9 hours on 120 and just shy of 3 hours on 240 to fully charge..

I want to say the e-hybrid manuals were not included with all Cayennes - cost and need. There is a Cayenne S E-Hybrid Supplimnet ot Owners Manual and a Quick-Start Guide. Wasn't there a pouch in the glove box?

IIRC the vehicle limits charging to 80% capacity. If you engage E-Charge it will charge the battery fairly quickly at highway speeds. I does nick you fuel economy by about 20%. If you hit the E-Power button so the light is off then the Cayenne acts like all the other hybrids out there and does the boxees think is best. Not sure how far down it will take the batery. If the blue e light in the dash is off then the vehicle will charge itself while driving.

The button is a charge timer interupt. I st my Cayenne to with a departure time of 1.30a and it figures out when to start the charging process. So if you press that button it should start charging immediately. I think. If you got the Cayenne at Porsche dealership they should have set you up with a Porsche Car Connect account. When I bought mine I got 5 years of Car Connect.

I got my ‘17 CPO in January— the warranty I got is 3 years/unlimited mileage.

Default Delayed downshifts and delayed ICE engagement - any advice?

Hi all. First time poster and owner of a '17 SEH purchased CPO 18 months ago with 5k miles. Now up to 25k miles, and I am hoping to get some input on a recurring issue.

When the battery is depleted and I am running on ICE, I notice a significant lag in acceleration coming out of an intersection after I make a right or left turn that does not require a complete stop and that I roll through or take at a reasonable speed. The car does not downshift fast enough and is often in 3rd or 4th gear when it should be in 2nd to accelerate out of the turn. I hit the accelerator and there's nothing immediately there. What makes this worse is that, as a result of preparing for the turn and doing some coasting and braking, a bit of regenerative electric power is put into the battery, so coming out of the turn the electric motor kicks in before the gas and the power just isn't there, even if it is in the right gear, which it rarely is. Eventually under harder throttle input the transmission will downshift, the gas engine will kick in, and the car will jerk forward. I know this is Tiptronic and not PDK and expectations should be adjusted accordingly, but it is very frustrating as I do mostly stop and go local driving and don't often charge, so most of my driving experience is dealing with this issue.

Things are slightly improved in Sport Mode but it's inconsistent. Ideally I would have the dealer code in Sport Plus mode but I was quoted $580 for labor and found the part on Suncoast for $900, which seemed like a lot to spend without knowing if it would solve my issue.

I am taking the car in for a scheduled oil change in a couple of weeks and would like to raise this issue. Has anyone experienced this, are there certain buzzwords I can mention to the dealer to have them examine the right thing? Transfer case? Transmission? Pull the battery to reset the driving style adaptive memory which appears to be coded more for efficiency than real world driving? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi gang,
Spending too much time at home in the COVID era stinks for impulse buys as I just picked up an E2 over Christmas as a daily driver and wanted to join the party over here. Brought her home and gave her a nice wash with a good coat of Collinite 854.
I'm typically over on the 991TT & DE forum but thought I'd introduce myself and toss a few pics up. Lots of pages in this thread to catch up with to familiarize myself with the Cayenne. Looking forward to learning more about the car over here.

Welcome to the Cayenne section and congrats on newly purchased Cayenne !

Not sure if you still remember me but you helped me one time with coding using PIWIS last summer. I also tried PMing you multiple times but it seems you are not getting my PMs anymore

It'll be battery life over the life of the car and potential replacement. I'm seeing minor degradation 4 years/28k miles in, probably consistent with typical wear. I have an ext. warranty that covers me another 4 years, but not sure I'd want to chance the batteries or components needing replacement after 8 years.

I saw a really good youtube
on EV battery life and learned a few things - These batteries degrade much faster if you charge them to 100% and then discharge to near zero repeatedly. They compared Tesla vs Nissan and the results were pretty surprising. Nissan Leaf gives you full access to the battery and after just four years you can see massive capacity decline. Tesla hides capacity from the end user so when you charge to 100% you are actually charging to 80%, and they also keep a reserve at empty. So their batteries after four years show very little decline. I wonder if Porsche hides capacity?

Hi folks,

New to the forum but Cayenne owner since 2016 (CD Sport). I recently upgraded my garage and added a couple of PCars. Not sure why, but only thought of joining the forum and PCA once I bought my 911. Seems like I've been missing out!

Here is a pic of the two new additions.
