Just bought a 2012 S for my son!
One owner off of a lease, can still add extended warranty I believe (has 4 months left)
Black on black; fully loaded 12,000 miles. Clean car fax.
Kid is a very hard worker. IVY bound lax player. I believe hard work deserves rewards.
Had an '03 when they came out. I think it's a safe car for him.
Thoughts?

Value of gift (deserved or not) aside, all I've ever heard about these Cayennes is how rock solid and exceedingly safe in an accident they are.
Great choice!

To your question about warranty, no Porsche does not have an official extended warranty. You should have no problem purchasing an aftermarket warranty though should you chose to do so. You might also be able to have a local P dealer CPO it for $3k or so (search the archives, apparently some dealers will do so for a fee in this neighborhood even if they are not the selling dealer).

gift update!
so we took my son out to dinner for his birthday. I arrived at the steakhouse late on purpose as i drove the cayenne s to the restaurant
I made a deal with the valet to take the valet ticket from my son after dinner to get my other car but the valet instead drove up in the cayenne with a big red bow on it. my son didn't even know what was going on and the valet asked him his name and then said happy birthday and handed him the keys!
my son was floored. he had no idea that he was even getting it for for his birthday.
he was so surprised and kept saying "but i dont understand...I wasn't expecting this"...of course as kids are apt to do these days it was on instagram to his friends before he even got behind the wheel
i love surprises
