Default Cayenne Diesel 2013 catalytic converter issue

Hello,
I’m new here. The cayenne just crossed 103000 miles. Check engine light came on and dealer says I need new catalytic converters and particulate filter. I bought the extended warranty but they say it’s not covered. They also say I can drive it but might not pass emissions. Is this correct ? Thanks !

Not covered?

Then what is the warranty for?

Sorry for your situation

I would check the diagnostic codes myself first. You can go to an AutoZone and ask them to do it- it's usually free. They use an ODB-II scanner and you can buy one yourself if need be. Get the fault codes and their meanings. Then you will know a little more detail about exactly what's wrong. Lets us know what you find and maybe more help can be provided. The catalytic converters are probably expensive. The particulate filter can be "regenerated" by running the car a certain way using a diagnostic tool so replacing it sounds a little much..(search DPF regen) I'm not saying don't trust the dealer, just get more info before you spend any money- especially if you can continue to drive it. It doesn't hurt to know what fault(s) the car is telling you (and the dealer). Good luck, hope its something simple like a sensor.

The warranty should cover you and there is something in the system that can be cleaned out. You might want to try another dealer or call POA.

I’ve been running my diesel with a slight exhaust leak at the CAT for months now with no adverse effects. I am getting it repaired in September.

PM me if you are looking for a new cat. I have one for sale on Ebay right now and in the rennlist marketplace. I took it off as part of my delete kit. Less than 30k on it, worked absolutely fine when it was removed. I'm asking $800 which is like 1/3 of what they are new

Go get a bottle of Cataclean at Autozone and run it through your gas tank. Very possible you have some gunk and $20 might take care of it. Clear the codes and see how long it takes to to come back after using the Cataclean.

Never heard of this stuff until now.. the manufacturer website says its safe for gas and diesel. Could be worth a shot if you ever get cat issues. Thanks.
