Default New battery for 2014 CD?

I recently learned that the voltage can be displayed on the dash (thanks to someone else's screenshot in a post here) but now see when driving that it often shows 14.4v and sometimes higher. I measured the sitting voltage at 12.17v which seems very low. It always starts and I've not noticed anything unusual but I'm used to batteries not working when they get down to mid-12v.

The battery replacement article here from 2018 is great. I've got an Autozone nearby that carries Duralast H8 and an AdvanceAuto with Diehard H8. Can anyone recommend a current battery they've recently installed in a CD?

Thanks.

@bobbyp Here's the article. It's inside the DIY forum topic at the top of this forum. https://rennlist.com/forums/diy-caye...nt-access.html

@Roman ACS Are you saying Duralast is not a good battery?

Get this: convenient to buy and trade in your core, good price, good warranty, and the H9 has a bit more capacity than the H8. In an SUV, a little more weight is worth the greater capability:

I put an Interstate H8 from Costco in my 2014 CD. It was a PITA as I recall.

I'm my shop I like to use interstate or oem. As others have stated a vw one will work as well an h9. As a rule I try not to use AutoZone as a parts supplier for parts for my 15 cd. That being said Ive not had any issues with my Duralast and it was not coded to the car.

@Roman ACS Thanks. Is it possible to code non-Porsche batteries to the car? Is there a down-side to not coding?

Thanks Garrett! Gotta say, I'm kind of a dummy when it comes to batteries. An H9 will fit in a '14 CD?

It sure will! There's no reason not to go with the H9: more Ah, more cranking and reserve capacity, and at the same price!

How do you display the voltage of the battery or alternator on the dashboard?

I'm going with a Bosch S695R (H9 size) when I need to replace mine; I read the Bosch batteries are the same manufacture as OEM. You can get them from Rock Auto.

You need to add it to the vehicle screen on the cluster. Click the scroll wheel then click on display (I think this is what it is called), select the line you want to it to display on and choose voltage.
