Not a great way to start the day

Unfortunately, a 2017 GTS valued around $55-60k retail will be totaled. I bet a dismantler will pay enough vs price to fix with several airbags deployed.
Hope you heal quickly and find a nice new car.

...The next step will be getting repair/total decisions from the insurance company. I'd very much like to avoid totaling it, and not just of being sentimental. Maryland is less favorable, dollar-wise, if it's totaled. I fully intend to have my guy be like a 'dog on an ear' to get as much proper compensation as possible.
....
....
Good that you have handed this off to counsel. Focus on healing. The sooner you start physical therapy, the sooner you will get back to 100% for your road trip.

So sorry to see this happened, but glad you’re okay. I remember when we met up at Tysons a couple years ago you’d mentioned that you intended to keep that GTS a LONG time. If totaled, I hope you find an equally excellent replacement! Best of luck to you going forward with this whole situation.

I am glad you're healing, although I am so sorry about the hell you experienced. Glad everyone more or less walked away though I am so sorry for the uncertainty. My first Cayenne was my own love affair with the brand, I would -still- be driving it if not for a toyota pickup running a light.
Less than a month after repairs from a drunk driver backing into it and trying to flee. The Toyota pickup was bent like boomerang, i was going 30 mph. The Cayenne drove onto the tow truck bed.. the Toyota required dollies to move.
I hope you heal. The automotive adventure will be out there when you're ready. Stay safe!

Good for you, and good you got an attorney, and good you took a ride to the ER to get checked out. That settlement will be a multiple of your medical expenses so its never bad to get....thoroughly...checked out lol.
Wowzers at the damage on the Cayenne vs. that other car.

Latest issue is local certified body shop has their next free appointment... in SEPTEMBER.
No word on repair/total yet. Dealer working on build sheet and their retail price for reselling it if they had it in inventory.

My daughter, who lives in Maryland, as do I, recently was rear ended and her car was totaled. Her insurance company was not interested in anything close to book value. She requested higher and they said she had to go out and get comparable values. She did. insurance company did not budge. In hindsight, I should have advised her to then request arbitration. A couple of folks have shared that the moment they requested arbitration, the next day the settlement was much more fair. Hope you can repair it but be prepared for a long wait due to parts lead times. https://www.porschecollisioncenter.com/

I'm not expected 'immediate' repairs. I just want to be able to plan what else I'm going to have to drive, and for how long.
Anyone dealt with shops in DC/MD/VA region? Pros/cons? (private messages are probably better for any horror stories)

Anyone here have a Rivian? I had a kid likely start driving next year and am considering some sort of EV for him. I'm not turning him loose with a Taycan. The wife suggested a pickup and I've seen a number of Rivian in the area. If my Cayenne is going to take a while to repair I might jumpstart the vehicle purchase for him now and use that until mine gets fixed.

Yeah, from all I've heard about wrangling with insurance companies I know it's best to seek counsel. The upside is a good friend does exactly this sort of work. Initial take is at least the defendant has one of the 'less difficult' to negotiate with insurance companies. First certified shop I've contacted doesn't have any openings until SEPTEMBER. There are others in the area, so I'm calling around.

EuroPro is the best around here.

My local body shop touts their delay like it's a sign of their greatness. Along with 'we don't mend we replace absolutely everything! '. Last checked it was four months out. So sorry there's a delay for you. Still hope this all works out well.

And their soonest appointment isn't until September. Any pros/cons on others? Porsche has a list of places 'certified' to do the work: https://www.porschecollisioncenter.com/ around zip 20817.
Tyson's Corner Collision, D&V Autobody, Criswell Collision, Severn Auto Body are 'in the area'.

Geico isn't a very good gauge of repair costs as insurance companies always take the low end, with non OEM parts, etc.. and that's another thing. Make 100% sure you get all Genuine parts put on that vehicle.
