When to change Transmission Fluid

When to change Transmission Fluid
Hi - I have a 2016 Cayenne Base, and its at 29,000 miles. Just changed the air filter, and was looking to see what else is needed at 30,000 miles. Some sites say we need to change transmission fluid, Engine coolant, spark plugs and fuel filter. Do we need to have these changes at 30k? I am looking to DIY as much as possible to avoid stealerships, so wanted to get some advise on whats absolutely needed.

I recall reading that 100k miles you should change it, but also around 60K its a good idea to go through with it as well. MY2011 CS getting to that 100k mile, i've already got all the stuff from FCPEURO.com ordered. took about 10 days to get the complete trans kit that comes with filters, O rings, fluid, etc... Now just need to find time to do it.

It's like 16 years or 160k mi on the 958.1 GTS. That is insane of course; no fluid will last that long. I use 50k mi on all my vehicles for transmission, diff etc.

Manual says 160k. Drain and fill is almost as easy as an oil change. Filter is more involved. At 30k I would just do the fluid and save the filter for another day. I'm at 80k and my FCP euro kit with filter just arrived an hour ago.

The beauty of 958 Cayenne automatic transmissions is they are made by Aisin. First time I did a fluid filter/drain/fill on my 2011 Cayenne Turbo I came to realize the fill procedure was practically identical to my old 2008 Toyota 4runner. Aisin made the 5 speed auto used by Toyota.
Rest assured these transmissions are robust, even if slightly neglected. Read more below, it will give you the warm and fuzzies.

I personally believe 80k is the sweetspot. The factory fluid is very expensive; I paid $1k at an indie shop for the change. If you're replacing every 50k miles at the cost, you're halfway to the cost of a new tranny by the time you get to 150k.

Granted, but good fluid in a non porsche bottle and a bit of diy know how and you can do fluid for like $150 include adapter and pressure vessel, filter and all for $250. if you exclude tools, knock like $100 off

I have done three ATF changes at about 35000 mile intervals. I use Fuchs ATF4400 (8 liters) which is an OEM product and together with cost of new filter (I think the Vaico is a good option at about $30) and gasket it shouldn't be much more than $300. you should also consider changing your Transfer Case fluid (a ten minute job and cost $30). If you would like a copy of workshop manual instructions, send me a PM

Do you mind sharing the tool list or some diy link? Been thinking of doing it but all I got is a set of ramps

Pump in roughly .5 quart more than you drained, start car, run through prnd, get oil to 35c and then remove your filling stuff. Judge how fast fluid pours out. More than a drip but less than a gush i.e. small continuous stream seems to be the goal. Insert drain plug and done

Basically you just need a preasure vessel (i used the 8 quart motive but some guys use garden sprayers. Then you'll need a fitting that is m10x1 with a barb on the other end.
