Question Is it impossible to DIY rear pads and rotors on a 958.2 S without a scanner?

Is it impossible to DIY rear pads and rotors on a 958.2 S without a scanner? We have DIY'd pads and rotors on the 2019 Audi Q8 and 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG without issue, but the research that I have done says that there will be an issue related to the parking brake calibration if doing the rears on a Cayenne S 958.2 without a scanner.

I haven't done it yet, so I can't comment directly. However, you may consider investing in some type of scanner. IMHO, you'll need it at some point. I use a Foxwell NT530. There are many options.

It's my understanding that, yes, you need a device to open the electronic brakes to work on your rear brakes. I am going to do it soon, as I purchased the iCarSoft POR V2.O for my 2013 CS. It does have the ability to override the e-brake and works perfectly.

You can find them on eBay, for $125-$150.

You can do it without scan tool, if the inner surface of the brake disc doesn't have a lip preventing it sliding over the parking break shoes... I would however recommend getting a scantool to make sure you can complete the brake job in all conditions

Well I replaced the rear pads a couple of months ago with no issues at all. I didn’t know that there would be any kind of a problem.

Igmorance is bliss I suppose.

Umber is correct. I can be done without scan tool.
Love MBDiagMan's comment.

I did rear pads and rotors on my CD without needing a scan tool. It's a 958.1 but, it has an electric parking brake. I be surprised if there is a significant difference.

Really you might only need the scan tool to change the rotors maybe. For brake pads only no tool is needed. Just squeeze in the pistons with a piston/pad spreader. Only reason you need the tool is to adjust and calibrate the park brake to specs.

Just did the rotor and pads couple months ago. Did read about the possibility of needing the scanner to reset the e-brakes but only if they are really worn. I went ahead without doing the scan and everything worked out fine.

I've done mine without the scan. I think it depends on how much you use the parking brake. I never use mine, so it is not worn down, so the rotor just slid of and back on.
