Default Tire pressure Question

Hi!

So in the Cayenne settings there is the "Comfort tyre pressure" option - when selected - the tire inflation settings get decreased by X in the situation when the are is not fully loaded. There is restriction to top speed and 1-2 people load.
Do you guys run in that mode or go for full inflation based on the door jamb sticker and change it out of comfort mode?
I have 18 inch wheels with 255/55/18 tyres + PASM without AIR Suspension.

This is the first car that I have that has this type of setting - looking for your real life feedback.

The door jamb has a really high PSI number. I believe it is for fully loaded.

I run 35F and 39R in my '14 with 255/55/18

I've actually been trying to figure this out as well.

I have a 2017 C SeH with brand new Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tires (275/45 r20 110V XL M+S). Here are the numbers I've found:

- TPMS: When learning the tires, the car says target 35/38 front/rear psi (partial load)
- Door Jamb: says 38/46 front/rear psi (I am guessing this is full load)
- Manual: says 34/42 front/rear psi (part load) or 37/46 (full load)

The dealer had the car up around 42/46 cold tire psi, which wasn't a comfortable ride. My gut says to follow partial load in the manual (34/42). But why is the TPMS saying target only 35/38?

One theory; the TPMS reduces the target pressure by 4 psi for the rear since it was 50F outside at the time of target (2psi for every 10degrees lower than the target temp of 68F). Thus, it reduced rear axel pressure but not the front axel since maybe 35psi is a minimum???

Any idea what the best is? My guess is the Manual targets for partial load are best. My Cayenne doesn't seem to have a comfort setting for tires.

Between our Benz SUV and Cayenne, the recommended tire pressures seem to be way too complicated. Interestingly enough both dealers seem to consistently set pressures to the high side. In any event I have been running 37/40 and have found it to be a good all around pressure with even tire wear across all 4 tires.

I think it also depends on your tires & rim size.

My 2012 CTT has 21" with 295/35-R21 tires, and I have settled in on 39 front, 42 rear, unless I am towing my enclosed trailer w/ car (approx 6,500 lbs), in which case I increase by 4 lbs all around.

after 6 yrs of ownership & hmmm probably 3 sets of tires (Michelin Lattitude Tour HP), the wear patterns have been consistent as well.

Putting new wheels/tires on my new (to me) Cayenne. Tires are 275/45/20.

I'm planning on running 36/39. I run similar pressures on the Q7, with 19" wheels, and that works fine...nice mix of ride/handling/wear/etc...

Most pressures listed are on the high end so tires won't overheat and blow up at high speed. For the slow US roads, anything 35 and up should be fine. I currently run 38/42 on 295/35/21 and it's pretty harsh; I may go a few psi lower.

For reference I run 32psi all around on my ML with 255s.

What if you ran same pressure all around on square set up? Does rear have to be higher?

The difference is typically because of weight distribution. A fully loaded SUV will have more weight over the rear, hence needs higher pressure. If the Cayenne is about 50/50 without cargo, same all around would work well as long as you don't fully load it up.

I’m usually in it alone. So they got real high pressures on a 92 degree day. Dropped all 6 lbs then it cooled off.
‘Now cold is 33ft 36 rr, runs way smoother on stock spring suspension.

I run 40 all the way around as weight distribution is 55/45 front to rear. If I load rear cargo or tow, I increase rear to 48
