Headed North in a few days and CTD is turning over slow in moderate temps. Dealer tested battery and had a dead cell and failed battery test. $945 installed but they didn't have one. Can anyone provide battery specs (Advance auto says H8, Varta (for Euro models) say H9), don't know what to look for. Also any good local sources?
Thanks,
Thanks,

There are about 30 battery threads but anyway.
H9 agm. Pick whatever parts store is closest.
Under 200 bucks, install is a pain but well documented if you search

2016 we did a 5,500 mile one way Arctic rally with the 4 year old original P-car battery.
No issues starting even at -36F
2020 Did the same rally, 5,120 miles one way, this Feb/March with a new proper sized Interstate. We had to get a jump start every morning we were north of the Arctic Circle.
Video from 2016 rally 'Otis' is at 4:08 --- Audi UR-Quattro at 4:18 --- Note we run Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 tires

Going back the OEM battery from Porsche.
It was not fun jump starting every morning at these temps and conditions.
Here is an article we wrote for PCA on a Canadian rally previous to the Arctic rally:
Here is the 2020 article we wrote with input from two others:

When competing equipment issues do not get you a win. We had a bumper-to-bumper refresh on our 2013 diesel prior to doing the winter rally this year that went beyond the recommended scheduled maintenance. Worst conditions encountered this time were -40F, 60mph winds, with a blizzard.
