I have a CEL on my 2014 Cayenne Diesel with 35,000 miles. The code is P2459 (Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Frequency). I had the AKB6 upgrade done about a month ago. This is my wife's daily driver, so it probably doesn't see many trips that are longer than 30 minutes.
I contacted the dealer and they suggested a "long freeway drive to get the vehicle nice and hot". My wife took it out for 1-1/2 hours or so and now a few days later, the CEL hasn't cleared.
Anyone have any experience with this? I searched the forum for P2459 but didn't find anything.
Yeah this would be warranty. Had a DPF light come on once on my (former) car. They ran a manual DPF regen and it was fine.
I suspect if you aren't driving car enough or longer drives it'll not get hot enough to run a regen...
Get out and beat on it, redline (after warmed up) and blow all that soot out!
The dealer replaced the diesel particulate filter 958-113-023-EX, (2) gaskets, (6) hex nuts, (1) clip, and (1) hose clamp. 100% covered under warranty. I believe this part is remanufactured. I haven't driven it, but my wife says it drives much better than prior to the CEL.
I got the same code in my 2013 CD few days ago but the dealership didnt want to replace the DPF!!!
Spoke with the tech and he told me that he updated the DME, placed the CD in regeneration mode(Porsche warranty told him to do that instead of replacing the DPF) and he didn't get any faults.
He then told me to drive the car and if in the next 500 miles nothing comes up, i m good to go.
Like the above post.
Get the diesels out on the highway for at least 30 minutes.
One time a week. Drive it hard.
I do this once a week when I fill it up.
The dealer told me the same thing, I tried to keep the rpms high and get it cleaned myself (There is a section in the owners manual about how to "clean" it yourself by putting it in manual mode and keeping the rpms high for a certain number of minutes), but the CEL came back in a few days.
It seems that the car can keep it cleaned for a while by burning itself clean, but there is a point where it is beyond cleaning (even with regeneration mode) and they need to replace it. The warranty makes them try this first unfortunately. But you'll probably be back there.
You could possibly try to complain about not having to want to come back/ the hassle of a trip to the dealer, but I doubt they'll bite.
