Running boards?
Has there been any consensus on 1.) the value of running boards on a 958.1 2.) drawbacks and 3.) non-OEM options available if one were to choose to go this route.

If the AMp Reseach boards were made for the Cayenne, I'd have them on the car. Love those things.

I just bought a set from Ebay for around $300 - there were cheaper ones that were very clear didn't come with mounting parts or **INSTRUCTIONS** (?). With two smaller kids, I think it will be a useful means for ingress/egress. Will let you all know...

Anyone know how to get these outer side skirts off?! The inner one was easy enough but this one I can see/figure out how to get off...
Will update as progress occurs, but first need to get this off!

Hope you don’t regret it. My “stainless” eBay set rusted. My “aluminum” eBay set rusted.

Same - though I'm not sure how the aluminum one would rust! I'm planning on keeping the parts so it will be reversible. Now that you mention it, I might give the underneath supports a blast of rustoleum just in case. We don't see a lot of rust here in the Bay Area, but better to do it now than later!

We don’t use salt where I live, not that I would expect that to make a difference with real aluminum. When I confronted the “stainless” vendor about a year after I bought them and showed him pictures he told me to keep them out of the “corrosive liquid”. Water....? 😂

Haha - well I’m not sure my boards are going to last long enough to rust - the fitment is god awful. Before I call them out publicly I’m wondering if they just sent me the wrong boards...
Note the huge gap between the car and the board, which grows with the curvature of the body - and both ends of the running board rub against the rocker cover panel (the one that was a PIA to remove).
Cannot connect the bracket to the width of the board because the board hits the plastic rocker cover.

Hate to say it but that gap is terrible. Underneath- I wonder if it will whistle at higher speeds? Might consider how to back out before they won’t give your money back.
