Central HVAC Diagnostics
Hi, some of you may remember me working on a '18 Platinum Edition Cayenne that I got after an accident for my wife, when I was struggling with getting to a battery compartment.
The vehicle is back from the body shop and I've been putting everything back together mechanically. It's pretty much all done, except one thing I am having an issue with: none of the HVAC controls work on the vehicle. The two temperature indicators in the middle of the central console say "OFF", but when I push on the fan or temp buttons, nothing happens at all. On top of that, neither of the seat heating or ventilation functions work. I checked every fuse I have on both sides of the panel, plus under the hood and all appear good to me.
I am starting to suspect that something isn't connected centrally. The body shop replaced the battery control panel from under the seat when they were fixing the pyro fuse and I do not see any unplugged connectors under the hood. I know it's a long shot asking a question like that on a vehicle that could have literally a lot of things wrong with it, but perhaps somebody experienced something like that where none of the HVAC items work. I wonder if the body shop did not connect something properly under the seat, but how do I check that?

You unbolt the seat, tip it back and look. There are a number of main fuses on that block next to the battery. It's possible they didn't wire thing correctly or blew a fuse, or - who knows without being there. How skilled are you with electronics? If not so much, this becomes something that might better be addressed by a professional. BTW - I seem to recall some fuses located up above the pedals behind the knee-bolster on the driver's side of the front footwells. And I vaguely remember them being heater related. But I can't swear to it without spending 30 minutes looking things up, so I'd suggest you look it up on your AllDataDIY account. I'm sure the details are there somewhere.
I'll have to dig around under the seat. According to the user manual at least, there are no fuses under the steering column, only on both ends of the dash and under the hood. I do remember seeing a larger 40Amp fuse net to the battery box under the seat, but that one was okay for me when I was still looking at how to get under there. I'll report back when I figure things out. I'll have to bring the car in for A/C recharge, code clearing, alignment anyway, so may end up having a mechanic diagnose this thing too, if I don't find anything myself.
